Job Description

•        reports directly to the Board of Directors
' C/ q& u% x4 W9 q$ c, k•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals
! G7 |" G1 g0 i' G•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board
# j7 S- F1 D. K7 V& U+ M, W% O•        assist the Board in fund development planning and implementation: T3 X3 g; \  E% ]: u

Agency

•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements
/ M! B0 P* s- H•        develop/review and administer operational policies and procedures
' V9 V7 T5 F9 b( e•        development and management of the programs budget
& w8 v0 e2 @! O# ]* P& V& P1 I•        develop, implement and manage operational and programming budgets' Z0 _7 n9 v% P, f( p9 y, U4 S

! m) v' W) K/ R& D•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff4 g; v! E8 g. \. [7 H" b
•        provide leadership to staff and volunteers6 l- D; B+ N5 R, H+ w0 O% P
•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions
" Y* r% G; D. s; c; R•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators; j: w! t# d% D
•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth* j0 R. p- d9 P% a5 H
•        meet with staff on regular basis  _& k$ m& b) m: S
•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff! E) n2 J/ g6 b8 I, Q

Programs/Services
8 L7 B' K" W4 K% T" V, G% N•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services) b' K4 y( D% n; V
•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities
1 ^0 C9 G5 h% D. Y•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders
& G+ M$ q1 P9 `•        set program priorities and directions , w( t& ^" b+ X% {
•        identify community and user needs and trends
; g8 N: Y4 [5 n•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends9 V) s( B8 r8 Y1 l: \
•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research
0 R, ]* m/ [1 p; B! [•        maintenance of appropriate reporting. p. W7 Y6 T% H$ P. v0 M; P" a8 k* b  n
•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required2 h) o" `  \+ Q" o+ R0 ]: I# ~, n
•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development1 Q2 h$ t* ]6 ~- d
•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others

; l- d3 l4 P, n& b5 S# PExternal Relations+ t0 A0 F+ b2 T! c0 h9 E' A( X
•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities
) L% X% P* Q" ]0 ^7 @•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders) u5 ^7 n/ F% _. c  n) t
•        communicate the value of the organization to the public+ a0 T, m7 Y; U: I
•        identify community needs and trends
3 j! a& w. B! P2 S•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups
  R' h6 G0 V% S( j+ B•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups
" y. J/ e6 l1 H/ g3 p•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems.
+ a0 ^7 s3 B  q' R3 x•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff/ Q# n+ s. M# z2 @! W; z

& q/ n8 H0 m" y! r" [Qualifications8 q9 b! i8 m$ M* q4 t9 R
-        University degree in a related field; 9 l6 v8 W* ^6 {
-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;0 x' O) m9 N: _1 \& G  x5 m
-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management;
/ L5 |  T( q+ @" o* [  R-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization

7 B) t3 q2 e6 G: k0 b6 G; C1 G0 ?Salary
2 t+ `9 _8 O  o4 v6 N3 q-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits
5 W& z* M- q; B% L+ Q+ K" r7 r9 ^6 E$ B! B
