WPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. Job Description:
D1 d$ k% |0 u3 V1 {2 ~- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community( V3 ?- F* r3 z, b
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
9 ]+ A9 N& j2 @# P f" k- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
6 ~8 }! ~% P" {- O9 c- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies) C: f% R0 H, P" S3 {) V. a- _+ G
- coordinate good will activities* I) t2 J% }1 p5 X6 i* b/ T
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members4 r! ^& `; i w4 l& m4 `% ?2 x8 ^
- submit information for community news
r/ a5 T$ ?: W- T; F- prepare and send AGM information to members
6 S( L0 l% D/ q) T8 y! J- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.5 Y( q* R& d7 P+ R1 \# o2 T
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities1 l2 H3 U: ?& f/ J' M7 k; }
- update ASSIST website3 n1 }( F% k9 C/ m- Z
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre' t" I; S1 w4 s7 y* c
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services. ~1 U o7 C3 \& ?$ H$ {6 g+ B: _
- assist in writing proposal for ISP: q7 }- H( d$ [& h) Y
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

% R2 c' V& n0 @, m9 [- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
6 y9 [7 Q9 f- B* s3 ]- good oral and written Chinese and English skills, T; y; d/ I/ j/ }
- experience in community work and immigrant services
; J1 Q0 f+ J. R! B( H- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars& X4 M3 v) g& Y- c
- leadership skills4 G: t5 L$ E7 w; k
- exceptional communication, interpersonal skills5 X c% w' B: P; e8 n2 u+ r/ X
