Position title: Community Development Worker

3 Q w5 f' g2 s- L5 sPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 3 h D y% W6 S" T2 t; W& S% s

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
. H4 K# W- o: V7 _ p- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services: |% m u2 C! N9 y6 h) U3 X2 H
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
0 o, j+ D2 h# k* u9 H' d- J- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

& L! K# U5 `3 j" T2 \% g/ O. r- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members2 e, O7 m9 ^# Y. y1 t" F
- submit information for community news : U7 n3 i" f$ W( @/ g* @' u
- prepare and send AGM information to members
o* x) A; m/ f5 E9 E) F+ o- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.+ W8 g9 p+ D+ v/ t
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities6 U2 y: ]4 _# O+ [
- update ASSIST website
+ K0 K5 l, B/ R( u) x. f- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre4 f, I e* k ^8 q+ Z
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services5 M4 P( C: X4 |6 J
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
/ W$ @7 k; v' ?- write quarterly and final reports for ISP1 d; j6 R. x6 c
- explore new ideas for ISP
+ ~$ Y( M1 R- E$ G* o5 u- hold regular meetings with ISP team
! O# D0 ]! W# w& I& e- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
1 c2 n- X2 H: t0 R9 R* `- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
* f9 T! d; U: t2 _/ g2 ~- experience in community work and immigrant services
: ?7 \1 V8 O9 m' K2 }7 p! z- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
