Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community# p" q! P7 l% G3 V& c
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services+ |' U9 H1 \& I; j: [6 p6 |
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
; v" ^! E( ~( M. q4 q4 F5 q- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies- a4 ]" y; l) v1 _1 h/ k* _, B1 m
- coordinate good will activities
) K8 d+ L2 r, k0 M! f- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members
: p5 `1 l0 E' w# _3 W) m- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

9 P( A$ s* ?; f R- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- write quarterly and final reports for ISP' g3 k$ p; \% H' O& f
- explore new ideas for ISP / z0 y& U+ g& R% Y1 q4 X$ Y: c- P
- hold regular meetings with ISP team/ m7 X* D# k! J) g. w1 v& m
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
3 p' T# D5 O# z7 E! i' B& i- good oral and written Chinese and English skills

- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
