Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. 0 R# w n1 _! U- A% N, P

, o' A7 L5 I- N5 L+ _- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community s9 T5 s: ~8 J4 T6 f* {
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
) h) w+ T* u" {. b4 L' K( V- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
# p4 F- w5 U$ L- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members3 P B7 N4 o. V% N4 }* X. X/ m
- submit information for community news 1 D9 w& b" y+ w' ]8 g
- prepare and send AGM information to members
o! _ M, R' |6 S4 O2 X- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.& {$ V. ^) H$ q1 A
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

) }1 B6 R, j. ~% S2 f$ ?- M- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre* s1 e4 ~" y1 t: X
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services: s& m/ F: H: Z6 [% P
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
" f) X0 l5 M" V3 ~1 \, Y- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team, K: i% l, ~5 P, X* ?
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

Qualifications
w6 X; s0 ~; b G1 [ X- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ' U- C T# R" f$ Z; ^2 d$ e4 V
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills3 t8 X5 l% F3 r+ G$ F6 j
- experience in community work and immigrant services
( Q- C8 _7 M- f- F6 Z% B q. m- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
