Duties
9 Z/ h' K" A* ^1 X- O- ?! T7 u; f) ~% y; }9 Q u
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis( f4 x* G& g/ k2 a: H" V# O8 ^
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
: t: e$ ~1 K" E * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques( l7 J0 s, x% m) O6 F2 f
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
( q8 {( v" M/ }# Q- z( X * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry; G k, x m+ x# E3 i# _
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
( A& ~1 V/ h) U$ m0 Y * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
9 y" {' K5 u6 ^3 P, {; _ * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
* s" {! E0 n! C3 i * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
& q& E( Q" s- O \$ A: a
) a: ^+ l4 P* q$ N h * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred @5 Y* H# n$ f( f% ?0 k$ {9 r
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)0 \0 E, V9 k& w! f1 J) |* c! `& d8 Z
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel7 s$ w& {) D6 ?/ O: f5 v5 U6 ?2 {
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
S7 V1 _; ^( }$ z3 M * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
