Duties

/ A% @: G, t( C }$ e * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region! T) K$ X3 Z5 Y+ x, b7 K5 g
* Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
3 V0 R7 f. {) F0 ^6 X [( A8 x * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators/ k7 Z: i' T# L
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations+ N6 A, {( h8 y! H8 x' ~+ B5 A8 O
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director9 X7 r L5 g+ I6 m4 J
* Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses" O! Q9 F) h- l* ^6 u+ P4 k
* Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth3 Z1 R, q, H. _8 \
* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program; `% p: _, [" I5 a
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment' }. d; R; J! x) N+ A# h( N
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
% I) R6 B# h: F' X- {% D! _# B * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

* Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline g- h1 _: o M7 @! _
* Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth6 ?9 N0 Q& ~ y& b4 ?
* Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies' \0 m! }' p# Z% m7 G) c4 P1 a
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs6 \/ M7 M4 ?' y. I* Q( o$ Y `
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community7 O" @# B; x5 {
* Fundraising skills an asset
" z. ~/ a' v/ d z% r * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills. [6 C. z ^' g. {1 h8 H
* Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
