Duties
# R8 s4 d4 U; m/ k2 z! u
/ A% @: G, t( C  }$ e    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
3 V0 R7 f. {) F0 ^6 X  [( A8 x    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
% I) R6 B# h: F' X- {% D! _# B    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
1 E6 S/ i" u  S3 U' ]4 n$ U    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
2 K6 l9 {1 y( ?6 n1 }    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

$ U" J& c/ W4 l6 R/ ~$ g- s7 D$ qQualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset

    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills

& o" z" v  n1 v: E  ?3 Q    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
