Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!

Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
" u- P- `7 L1 [5 X' A(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about/ k, R- O: v$ `; y
environmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
" w. C8 ^8 c8 f. Y* Mmanagement; home composting; household hazardous waste;9 T' e" D, c! d) c; {# a% r
vermin-composting and residential recycling., p5 k5 @- s& f) p( P1 h
8 F1 _/ b( O' n) tThis course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips# ]! U" |) I- a, f* M9 S7 T4 @6 a
to various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
- D J8 W" X' [0 L! K. p/ u0 {complete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:4 h' L- V; x/ J/ S
reduce, reuse, recycle and recover. Graduates become important
# y6 F: U5 v; S0 k# W4 vresources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
+ z( Y) f5 ^9 \6 ? ` z7 u8 L# {importance of composting and recycling.& f3 e4 `" R6 s( y5 F

Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the# B: H& c( Y/ s% v/ O; b
Reuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems; x+ m. L. E" O" R( v
public education display booths; assisting with programs and
! T6 Y2 K9 {( @* w4 E) X* Z+ O9 Wmaintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at# V- \/ b: N* f2 I
various demonstration gardens and general public and school! ^1 k" L8 Q( x( O2 V/ \2 I
presentations.; g) k8 `* x* g5 y+ J. y# t, a
+ G, C) ]" j2 o/ ~/ O- T
There are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
4 R" H5 v6 S9 v+ Zvolunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
) N7 \1 R* Y0 r5 w. f" x) imost. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your5 D. \: x' U5 v; u6 c u/ y
knowledge with others, then apply to become a Master
