A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.* c8 k A: C5 |/ _
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and1 q$ z, i4 _+ J& |
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.. V: W! O/ j: V! a1 h+ @
The program includes the following elements:8 g/ T9 @6 I9 a2 K' q
• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)
J! n4 F: T3 S; j• Standard Child Care First Aid
! e! N' S8 S8 ]/ p7 s• WHMIS, Y1 C% M; O4 J/ [4 }, q1 u+ p8 y
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
! g1 S' P: z& n1 U$ @$ l3 z- s# ]: q• Components to improve communication skills% ]% T1 c$ a" G* ~0 d2 m
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search6 t% E% j: x9 l5 C
• Practicum Placements

• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen" g) ^0 n" D5 w" K5 A+ G/ G) a0 y
of Canada$ H% O# \9 ^7 d* S
• have a Social Insurance Number* b( y; ] e+ u! F5 y& `
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
+ f, i8 u7 R/ i/ G$ l* t• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent7 t: y- d- e E# x/ M- f+ U
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

1 C6 R/ s4 D6 O8 VParticipants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet. V1 U O5 U+ ~; d' Q2 P
the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:: I! i) u( x" T) Z
• be unemployed or underemployed.4 z& [; T/ g. x2 ^8 P' a0 ^; T
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
