Duties
- Y9 X" l, n) }6 p. }" `# K0 A% i/ |9 r
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
, z; x) [9 I: K+ [$ T * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
$ Q5 P- ]. z$ P$ v+ C4 F * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance5 f! y+ Z% b& p1 o! x
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students 9 a, a' G$ z9 l7 T- |" Z
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies" U0 U# b( O( {
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs

Qualifications

7 ^3 l& E. T5 y6 i% _) ` * Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred9 A" C4 p0 X) k) i- T) W
* Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
