* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications& p9 ]6 J; i8 W( w
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis! O' L4 j4 Y" ?6 J4 a
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
$ \( U4 [/ Z |1 a( T * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
3 T9 J- J- T; S# S6 P2 m * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies
/ C% m: g: ~; M' b * Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
; w; k4 q7 k" m! V" L+ P% K7 Q * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
& S/ Y3 i) ~" s * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
