FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

5 s: \7 W! q' W1 g$ ~FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
( i0 }+ L5 T! D; v& Gemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
9 j- m: X1 u9 C& }and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
) a3 g- `- [0 T) G9 Y" v; z; I  Gscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

. b7 b3 o* ?  R' S4 z9 fJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
6 R& m3 P1 j; ]3 Q( Rassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

8 G, L( u0 y; h1 E# q  E7 eDuties:
- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
0 A0 z* k5 K% d8 E& l- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
4 j/ Y$ N) Y4 B6 v- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief
0 i) k2 ~' m# |8 J
Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
% ^5 Q! D6 o4 r) J  h, J" _& cProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
% K& X; A$ h$ D* j3 X' A6 f- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
) T! J8 |0 |2 G7 }- Advance organizational and research skills
! N9 \- e9 H5 m: Q' h- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
