Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

5 {6 n# ]# F3 m% `2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students ^% y) ?( c8 @0 G+ m" j# z, L
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)! g& g" _) t5 _5 l! G2 G

Activity Planning and Daily Activity4 Z8 G1 g8 Y4 @
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
6 Q7 l8 q4 e. G% g• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. : x5 [3 f: k& k j2 w% g% V0 G
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 9 s$ K2 @) P! O" T$ q2 I+ p/ X3 `+ i
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
1 b {; i! {: ]3 n. I7 r7 o2 M• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
8 a# N$ a* s( {* a% s* w• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
$ L/ T5 s( b- g5 U• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
4 I: k3 k$ F% b* n• Experience with children4 m! f. ?7 `4 q1 k. W+ V
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth 9 T+ J1 k% j# G+ p! C
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
4 [* W1 v5 ?+ a) e! Z& G1 D! @& e• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
$ o) A# Z4 Z0 h- m" \7 g* L• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
' ? k. d+ f ]8 k• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
