Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. 5 M& q9 a* x9 E. f# l1 z$ p
+ y# y. D% t: s7 F: q
2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students 1 a, l' j& _ _ t: {* W
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
$ e" P4 k, z1 F% AActivity Planning and Daily Activity
$ F9 U5 ^( R. Y! N; j• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
4 Z- C7 }' ]1 s: y% G• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
$ J& `6 t5 I* j8 C( p• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, c$ w! A% ?3 R' D% m
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
& J$ q* e' h+ z$ i• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.3 B# {% y% h; C( p; a: `3 m
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:. @4 C5 y. p1 I" q# n- x
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
+ ~# Y- |) z5 C% \9 ?% }• Experience with children5 m/ K0 z8 h) t; c8 P
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
% T8 n+ Z6 u- N8 S/ z" G• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring., s, s* F# l: ?' b, H; w! ~1 V9 J
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.: v; y/ [' _/ c2 p2 N3 }9 @7 u' j
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
& J- p. @) N* p. y/ M6 n1 U• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
" y- C" t/ W8 \7 t* F( W5 @3 R• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
