Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
, L: G7 \9 e- f; i9 I• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership." X) O/ G p/ |0 }* z# O% M8 I$ m
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. # Q, W' x5 i6 L6 D8 B, v3 h
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 0 ?% G( W. U! `. e( a. j' L, d
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.( w# c% u/ `8 E; N& S* Q
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.0 s) O4 Y3 \8 [
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.1 Q3 t$ @ W& v4 U, q% l& E

The successful candidate will have:
, W" R4 a: o% |• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting$ d1 T; |9 z2 N2 J% _7 e
• Experience with children
' ~3 i, b. r# w s' E. f. D• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth + k! \* `- R, A2 C6 A2 D
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.9 i7 H% O" o& ^+ E! v8 E
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.0 t, j3 u1 ]# s7 m s% J3 S! K$ }3 K
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources+ X* b: F" I& Z
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
+ H( h, x7 l+ |% k, `7 v9 w• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check $ U- u+ X. _) A
