Program Overview:

9 |& E) o7 D' _% p6 ~( AIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
9 r& r5 h) f+ Rskills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
) ?! M. s, N5 O/ d6 m" g* Zprogram combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
& ^0 |9 x" Q+ R; vexperience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
3 v1 B8 I3 b' J8 P; zwarehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
/ H- i0 j4 ?8 J' Zservices and others.

Candidate Profile:

$ x2 c# P9 O0 x- V& \. D0 U6 z4 iCandidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
6 i8 H) W' n! h: q7 ]% ]*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
) c* O$ k4 _. N9 j*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
secondary education
*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
occupation
0 t; M$ |3 `1 X*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
3 d; {7 T8 c& I3 P6 u; O*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
1 u' \3 t; F; B5 D6 Z7 V*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:

* ~* h5 ~/ }( Y- k  B0 @1 s                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
" K! ]: S+ @/ u' [% \! ]5 H: A        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
. C! e! a3 v1 F) H2 P' d% m        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
0 ^4 f# S8 _. t. I  E5 D& }Internet, etc.)
3 ~- f! u/ X0 _' I+ q" o        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
) S2 h- ^1 c6 V  n/ O. T        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
7 |; f! {, h  L# m, V                        *        1 month work-experience placement
