Program Overview:

/ v, w, J4 @2 W) r8 IIntegrated Employability Skills Training gives immigrants the essential
8 S, q# H& C8 {4 S( l6 _) N/ gskills needed for success in the Alberta workplace. This 5-month funded
8 i* `3 r8 B  M- `2 ]program combines classroom-based training with work site visits and work
experience placements in high-demand semi-skilled occupations, such as
warehousing, customer service, hospitality, healthcare support, food
services and others.

Candidate Profile:

5 T/ u/ L# T$ o, ^" GCandidates for this funded program must be landed immigrants, Canadian
citizens or refugees who are eligible to work in Canada and who have:
*        English communication skills in the 4 - 6 range on CLB
*        Basic literacy and numeracy skills and some secondary or post-
secondary education
& ?- q  r( `3 M4 t  S*        A genuine interest in finding permanent employment in a high-demand
8 W$ n0 x5 j; k7 h0 R# B) K* U4 ooccupation
*        Availability to study fulltime for 5 months and then be employed
% [% L5 W5 J% H*        Willingness to commit to a program and future job
*        Resided in Alberta for the past 3 months

Program Description:

) F* A2 R6 P# Z6 a: E0 F0 d2 @                        *        4 months classroom-based instruction and
field trips
% w7 Z3 _  J. U1 h3 {$ P& c        *        Improve your English while learning about a variety of
high-demand occupations
, z1 Y/ k! i6 B' ]        *        Increase computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
1 D' i: }2 D5 ?4 \, F$ ?" fInternet, etc.)
/ {- R& @  D, b* G6 D+ N7 T        *        Write a winning resume and improve interview skills
        *        Get First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates
        *        Take advantage of one-on-one employment counseling
                        *        1 month work-experience placement

Class Schedule and Location:

        *        September 12, 2005 to January 31, 2006
        *        Monday to Friday
