This fall, the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council (ERIEC) will be launching a mentorship pilot program, where we aim to match skilled immigrants with mentors in their occupations.0 R. _. R. {+ f# S; C m7 [ Eligibility Criteria 4 e0 L& o$ s5 p1 e6 zAll potential mentee candidates are required to meet the following criteria:1 b5 `5 \( {; W; I. v
•An internationally educated professional living in Canada for three years or less + f9 Q( t& X7 z* T•Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent post secondary education * Y$ A9 R+ @! Q. ~" H•Have Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher in oral English ( ]' I+ V8 ]8 y•At least three years work experience in their area of expertise outside of Canada . a9 L, t2 N% P" F4 J- K2 C( U" b•No prior Canadian work experience in their field " y3 q( M w' v•Be unemployed or underemployed – working for 20 hours a week or less- A5 f+ z/ U2 q9 _6 q/ `% y: A% ^
•Be eligible to work in Canada( o# G7 G8 V2 y' J
•Have a job ready resume and have completed a job search workshop 7 H3 X4 v, }: q/ [; X•Lack access to professional networks 7 S. b2 {4 c1 `' a5 E `+ t( n•Be motivated to participate and be open to learning 5 r4 f3 ]: I; s1 V( f. ^Time Commitment 6 K& A: Z" N8 j# I( g# w9 EThe maximum number of hours involved in the ERIEC mentorship program is 6 hours a month for a total of 24 hours over 4 months. This works out to approximately one and a half hours per week. 2 E2 O9 ^* j/ |9 {( v4 H" aMentees who meet the program requirements are welcome from any profession and must complete the Mentee Application Form.
