In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
& e; [2 b( W' @2 B, uPlans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. # \( R+ z4 h% ]: [
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
- N t9 F( ~* Y, B+ lOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. + d l D4 X+ w- W5 x
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
4 n; t3 E/ ?8 m( J: b1 v" k1 A& AMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
2 g1 }- ?; ~1 L( ^; t2 hExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
4 M5 s# g; s, tEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. % L7 T1 `) y3 e1 [3 u
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. , t6 c) `! r: ]2 @
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 1 f7 M# j* W4 P$ A& i1 |, W# \/ Y
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it. 8 @2 P! Z( Q9 E( P+ s+ e$ U# [1 L2 ?
Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.

) b$ V6 C! o% d( O2 |2 z5 G( n# D# WA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
) W* D" d" z0 T9 ^2 W. H0 LPost RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. : D! K, H! h+ H
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
. { i6 w3 g% F3 I; Y. y. qPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 3 l1 X: t6 c. r5 B% l
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
" ]7 C3 }& m" ?- SProficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
