Specific responsibilities include:

$ w- G4 j2 C: T' d8 J• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 7 @ U+ V+ ?/ B8 X- S1 j, c
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
# o) o0 p3 G! _4 Tthe Board of Directors;
& U( j2 F: ` m0 a• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
: g. L W) s! s7 @+ M) O# H2 ?) sincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to
. r! p$ G$ L. t% B uenable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; 5 s: m. F" G, t, A e
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and
- M `9 N. q% D- @2 lobjectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
* I+ [+ I0 F0 }* D/ X: z& ?7 d2 r Rthe board;
+ C& e: f& n/ D8 }• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; - f9 }# {' Z1 {: y' ~2 {* H
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
8 x$ O7 T, U! t$ A% q( |+ Qthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings;
b: H# L k1 c T• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the
$ U- Z- \& h, h9 L0 B1 ^8 rchanging needs of the organization and community; 0 `/ b1 t' E' e( F! w! ?
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
* j ~8 W& E' s1 J% G) J7 Zcommitments;
' h# K$ e1 N7 r) v$ P9 z' k7 f• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; : z2 {# S+ ]* [# g0 D
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective 4 w3 h5 m! s4 P
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; # A) \8 p8 ^! d# w) B
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
* y( i* {( ]( z) H• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to ! H. ?# A; X P5 o) U' X
effectively and positively represent the association;

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring
; J* y" e" Z9 U; w5 kthe implementation of systems to manage these risks; - j6 d Q8 F) b& m; K
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal & i, C6 I7 f$ {* r% B" W
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED 2 ^7 L+ S& e* {) \+ j( n
the forthcoming year; 0 P( W H) v0 U: r; M/ M v
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 5 k$ K2 \9 i4 e' t
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
6 ?" N; A u1 Q9 uYWCA Canada; and
4 H, z; x" h( `& F) u• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task . v& R9 k% E: h5 S1 w

Required Professional Designation / Certification
) F2 L0 x6 [/ W) j6 _• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience. * w9 [) J, r2 f+ C9 C0 B- u

Required Experience ! U9 x) ]. s- s# b
• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; 9 g" O0 E3 ^' c* l
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation . n7 {/ _7 `/ J/ ]6 Z
abilities;

Networking and Fundraising;
