The successful Executive Director (ED) will combine a woman centered perspective, strategic

Edmonton often acts as a catalyst for developing innovative services within the City and

/ B$ f0 a t* n2 E2 c4 Q$ P, M• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
% p$ Y7 [& X M( ?. o5 ?9 A2 Xthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by ! e8 _: k$ O, S( @/ m
the Board of Directors; 7 ?% A# h) |9 m7 y. u
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations / _% L q% {! I$ X" P8 S
including financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to 2 d# W1 @$ ^7 T/ ~1 J. R) Q
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; F) ^( ~3 N4 V4 k
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 3 \% N) T d+ w
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by
. h5 ?$ w* ]: k; e/ ?2 o( ]the board;
$ ^& D7 X/ ?8 I3 {* ^, j• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
7 ~% I0 r0 u6 f' [• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 4 X) T0 z+ P/ r1 `
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ; j) e3 m: g& w. j4 ]. R! e) K
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the 8 r% e9 ^1 @9 w2 c8 B0 J- K; P
changing needs of the organization and community; ; k! @, F8 N% f
• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue + B9 j# S* ~+ @
commitments;
& n0 ]9 E# i Q+ j& H! h- \ w• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders; 8 o+ I6 C e# H7 ~
• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective $ r& D/ H: M; ?* P3 o
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; 9 j9 Y7 e( A, ^0 Q: b
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;

• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
4 S. D0 Z! }6 z. v0 G' `% u1 ^ q- _performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
: q& }& d4 H, d) Gthe forthcoming year;
2 L7 E- C* E" l; X+ \+ x• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
% l8 k" K8 s1 l% T+ S7 npractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;
' J9 f/ [1 v; m' i3 M; Z; ^5 h+ A• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation . l8 K" N4 J5 V/ L
abilities; / |- h/ I* D. Z( U7 a- I
• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, + V4 r5 [1 V5 r; m9 N
Networking and Fundraising;
! O' c0 R0 f% r6 a; c1 T4 U• Strong business acumen and familiarity with risk management, budgeting, forecasting
