What Makes Christmas Magical

are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas
6 j( {  Y3 _# Z* {! ptherefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
1 g' m: ]2 B4 x/ n; [# c8 upleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then 2 n% o! y* L1 i3 A
eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can . L* O1 e. K, V4 W% y* U
smartly avoid it?
# z$ f8 K( G5 d) x?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
% D  E: G) _0 d8 V4 q3 G' eat a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem * n; y) H! |( ^6 Z0 {, X0 p
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
0 Z! u$ @# Q" L' d: ?. r, pmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a 1 U+ l8 x- }1 y6 k) B4 a
Budget.'

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may
* i6 [2 `8 x2 J( K& ^3 Lrisk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
" j" Z. f" U" ?) V+ \1 i1 Hbe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
$ \1 n4 A9 L! W3 l8 lare offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays 2 B6 o: b$ M) K8 g- ?
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more . @1 Y/ Q% y! ]
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
) D$ b! K# Y% B5 r" Y& `2 D" H* p?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to 6 O% a! x% E) B: X5 ~. K3 U
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with $ n8 s) h: I: C7 R
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, & R( r5 r6 P2 J8 ~: I, T
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
) B5 N6 L5 W- E! d6 W' gtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into ) G' r$ `& T2 W
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will 1 x0 b& V+ g0 g9 g3 [
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
# X  s% R8 B, E/ D. }& t" m  Ra cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are 6 i" v3 \; C& L* e
heartily enjoying the holiday treats.?

9 o" m4 H5 B3 W0 t% \% jand candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating " \2 t( U5 s4 U+ m9 ~1 E( k( s4 r
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
" s% }9 w0 L; {* M- L0 F$ R5 o" tupon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
% V, j3 [+ q- b9 e: qcandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. + X! m6 ]; w* {" y" {
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

Dinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating ( t* H# z% f, t  |
on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of 3 B! u& b* ^  E; T6 Y% z# j& Q
the selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted, / F! h: ?9 i* m1 _
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is

during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one
