What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind

pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
7 _% y! h) f, D. B  {eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can 7 ~- U7 g  I& K' P2 J3 `
smartly avoid it?
& ?9 s) i8 [0 V# y?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
$ y7 l8 o( c6 f1 @. _# @6 Iat a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem ) k3 O. P5 A, I; \
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
7 T8 R$ c, Q' v2 A# N7 Fmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
, x8 J, s. r0 g( ?, k( DBudget.'

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may 2 z6 a: D2 c/ u3 S, _' e* s
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
3 `* H+ a/ O9 r* T8 z' F! Obe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies 9 v9 s0 `4 r) M- N8 e4 T& F) R. p1 @
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays ' g, S: j7 B; M
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more ; h2 F# e$ G3 y( u3 `
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
+ H. l4 n1 f1 v/ T: o  C?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
8 A" v" U0 h3 ^) Csubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with ! u; w5 C6 J7 b
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, 7 e, i1 w6 n3 F6 |2 C' J
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
; l+ `8 X  U3 M. V; s9 u+ U8 etell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
' t* Z# y+ V* Cplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
" a4 K4 c1 g3 \4 L2 \7 Abe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or 7 R) d: _! g, |- e: P8 I4 F
a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are 2 F# n, i. U8 K1 b4 N

?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
- u; b3 m9 S8 r! @% |2 Hand candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
# |, G$ U$ ?) T  chealthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
& d( J( _1 f. ?% Y; supon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
, g: e. I5 A( kcandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. ) z. F) T& ]3 I+ [! d
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners : g; y) i& F! M3 Q

For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas

* a0 A/ z; z& \; P3 y, \on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected 8 j5 z1 i% k* C! M2 _+ b
should be carefully watched. 3 F8 n5 `) w$ f* h
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
* s3 h! j( |8 c, i; A; Zthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted, 7 J' g7 F5 w& V  l
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is # d- q/ I" r  J; T3 S) o4 ^( Z
somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served $ l8 j8 \8 ^8 ~: v
during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one
