What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind 0 q6 J8 z1 k) V8 x- X4 O7 s
are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas ' S- g- L1 M. }& S! Q1 `5 J% s7 j2 H
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a ( ]0 |% O: x8 C8 I) H
pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
! k" ^) T6 R$ Heat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can % e( C8 @' B; S
smartly avoid it?
- d+ l' M' D& }+ G) Y- w) N4 v4 _?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
0 T* D4 L, [' j: M! ~# u' u  Mat a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
3 G+ i5 H3 j( A+ H3 Q. ]4 _% kto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of 1 f' I+ I. m% q5 u, i
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a : D, Q/ V: o/ _  O$ W& M
Budget.'

  J5 Y; a( d7 \# grisk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
5 @* ~" W, q3 T* X# \. Ybe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
; D8 ~4 t* [. H& `are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
" [- B& N% ~$ W% sespecially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more 5 X' K/ @0 P+ i! f- H$ t8 L
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower. 0 ~9 X% V5 L! y1 q  ^) ^
?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
* j& i8 o- n1 a* g" usubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
& z0 {3 U) g6 W& V, R. |breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, # l, c, p1 Y' R+ @, p
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
7 ?) n8 P2 |3 }( vtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
2 O1 K* r. p" Rplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
" Z* U. ?8 e9 r. x7 x) Mbe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
' X4 q# K5 h5 z: Ua cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are
' H# n) H5 J9 theartily enjoying the holiday treats.? + }. t# V/ y: |. ]4 @
?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
/ j( B3 x! g- R+ A+ p( M/ V8 dand candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating $ J( k1 I8 y5 I" ~
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down $ i9 j& E2 f/ C7 e0 G2 Z
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
2 B( `7 a# ]) B* ^8 acandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. 5 ~% D3 ~0 x( A5 [
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

they preferred to receive for the holidays. The lowly and much maligned fruit

basket and a plate of cookies was third on the list,abercrombie bags, according to the

For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas
+ B9 T6 f& a$ W6 ?, ]& t9 P# C) D) pDinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating ) U1 g8 p  H5 c8 B
on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected
* G, D- e5 |) _  H0 Fshould be carefully watched.
: F9 \# J( l3 ^At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of 7 B3 E+ i6 b* @
the selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,   l3 Z3 `' J: E( s
then do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is 6 }0 M- e) Z3 s% B) D3 R5 n& e
somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served . K5 p. T5 M  c6 p9 o9 e
during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one

from food and your soul full of joy from sharing another memorable holiday
