What Makes Christmas Magical

pleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
9 C5 _" Y' S7 Eeat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can % J1 D4 h* H& f& Z/ O+ Y/ u& W) P
smartly avoid it?
6 {6 ^" V+ A3 D?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out 5 T# T, {% \8 x1 P, h. {
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem 3 o* Q2 k3 N7 u- M7 c
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of # j! S+ v3 |6 K/ m
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a + W$ f& ?& V- e: [, B
Budget.'

?'Eating on a Budget' is not about the cost of what is eaten, but about the

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may 1 e( o4 Y: e% g  E8 Z
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always ' @0 t& O2 l( T8 w
be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
6 O' w0 t5 ~) R' }) A" g' uare offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays * D, o4 o2 \% U* e8 N/ Z. I. i
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more " K) N2 J/ ^: R$ E" Z- c, F4 n% V& d
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
! }4 J; I: [" U, o1 x?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
. l* b: Z% P# O- U. zsubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with ) [0 }/ a! g3 T/ R
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, 6 B+ @4 ~, A1 p' y/ ^7 I
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to ) w2 i) Y7 Y1 U& B" E
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into / C0 D/ K+ f9 @# s
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will ! Z' y7 |2 b  o; z& n
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or 4 R- g' F) K$ v5 J0 ?
a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies
& v! Y7 Z# A/ r4 y8 j+ O3 ]and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating : @7 s/ {3 ]; ]) u
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down " B4 J& R3 ?5 U" w# ^4 N. O& H
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
& `( S6 O+ ^1 V  tcandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. 7 }, ~. r! J# v) P& S* }
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners 1 N' ~: `! y! Q* ]- c, j3 N

on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected % s- A& r/ N. Z% H( z- c
should be carefully watched. & p) w% k, ]! Z
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of : r$ b4 z' o5 K$ `. V/ c
the selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,
8 h7 v- b4 s8 X; v6 Othen do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is

during Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one
