What Makes Christmas Magical

therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
! w/ j$ K. M! ^; mpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
! Q" I6 e% D0 ^$ R/ q; \- Feat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can 8 s1 m$ w. G! A4 w+ z. F# w
smartly avoid it?
$ R( A- P/ f' C( L?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out + E  {' c9 Z# H8 U
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
2 W+ a6 d  D& A  I. u7 P. Nto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
0 v' m; h- c) x' U: ~8 N) p4 G) pmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
5 X2 O' Y- P0 r- G) P$ G% A/ fBudget.'

: h  r2 J: I6 G: cbe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies 1 ^+ }3 L' v1 m, b
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
: }; e5 U- A4 A) W( ^8 _especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
+ `- C5 v4 u/ P) E% e6 Rrelaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
- q1 r' {9 }2 d3 Y* z1 x?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
" X5 x: ]) \7 K2 nsubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
8 U+ ^8 e  I5 C3 f$ fbreakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, . C9 B/ P/ [: P+ G0 N4 e4 F# x
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
# B6 Y7 k0 a0 [: |# _# J: jtell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
& c1 ^4 w4 g; W. z  Y% a/ iplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will " d/ X! t1 o. ?& r. w
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or " W( J. b! `+ u/ M. x* `4 `
a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating 2 d/ J/ X1 D, E  n
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
; F2 L6 f3 O- t# J7 W7 Jupon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate $ z3 h1 i! d" w& B+ E# p% }  d2 x* [
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. % J: e  q9 B/ o& ~1 e4 T
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

7 O8 F9 k# s* A& s' S8 e( L) T6 jon a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected % s3 R4 P% A6 [7 C' `
should be carefully watched.
, h# ]0 e3 p2 i# gAt a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
# G; l( z( w* ^+ S; H9 J! q5 Mthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,

somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served
