What Makes Christmas Magical

. @, H& a$ G  S  O, seat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can - |) J6 H  A, L: Q4 q
smartly avoid it?
; I) `6 ^0 W1 O+ g' }+ p?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out + r9 s) R. ^& f1 Y
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
: z& o! }  Y! j. j+ ?to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of 2 C( c$ O1 o7 W, c$ U! M
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
" r$ M+ S# T5 s. U1 H3 W" K* M# M0 mBudget.'

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may $ m3 m; }& w3 t8 R1 g% [/ @
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
; E4 w5 P- b! w1 F( j3 D8 d4 B& }be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies + X! P5 u2 R) v( X9 X* w5 m! Q
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
3 G* _, y" L5 m  @" o: Despecially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more - B2 _( l- L0 O8 ?, Y4 w
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
/ f6 j& O% U5 ?+ l! X0 ??A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to ( d; b  r& o& q+ `. i2 S$ P
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with ; Y' E* \$ m6 k
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, & u; P- ?% i: b" G3 m9 W
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
( c8 E% Z  g: v# Ltell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into , f2 i! j# T8 w4 E( `- z
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will ; J! Z( B; P/ s2 |7 y
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
: q" F% O% Z/ J3 b  d! oa cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are 5 X4 U. B1 j6 p4 N" G2 D$ R
heartily enjoying the holiday treats.?
) i2 }8 z* \- j) P, d' [' s?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies - S8 P0 [/ x$ U0 g
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
0 A: X6 K' [" _healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down ' j2 ~- U$ l9 \9 F5 U& f
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate 9 R. C4 C9 K. \3 E! U
candies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. % E! r7 [$ t" R7 U6 F* w. S+ d
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

they preferred to receive for the holidays. The lowly and much maligned fruit

on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected

  P# ?1 z$ d! M0 O% n& uthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,

somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served
