What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind

) V+ d  y! M0 r4 vpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then + Y+ a) Y: m% \; x6 ?5 p/ X, p  h- p
eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can 9 H$ O3 Q2 E7 ~1 o! O3 K
smartly avoid it?
# F: m6 t/ b% w0 q% w: ~( n?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out * h6 V5 f# ]  z" k
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem : |" y  Q) [8 I) e2 h8 w# r
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
3 O8 D( ^* `# Zmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
$ s5 A: G4 G# `: _7 IBudget.'

to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may

be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies 3 r, r5 a: S! O+ `0 l
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
4 L5 `  u6 z' X" P$ X: Aespecially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
( h/ O; ]$ D2 Wrelaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower. 5 C) h, c1 o3 F
?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to 8 \& L8 ~  F, ~/ B6 @* Z* @
substitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with
! x+ M8 u: `* i7 f$ Cbreakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, ( c" h8 K& u6 }
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to ) [- i  }/ Z+ V2 x' B
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into : |; Q6 ?* Z" ?4 z9 K# r9 O
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will
9 d8 [5 z% Y) ?3 ^: j7 m9 @' vbe watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
5 a- [  _4 i0 @4 \8 Y+ oa cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are 6 K5 V2 @& h' \7 j$ G* W1 v" p
heartily enjoying the holiday treats.?
7 Z; _( z' J* {/ V; y) o?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies 1 l. g+ I% Z, ?
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
2 E8 b5 w& d$ y; |6 I3 `healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down 5 @" ~" _6 s) J3 l5 H
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate

For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas 5 T% b+ U: h  o1 W
Dinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
) P# U4 n# g) L- bon a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected # e0 g+ E: B6 v' V( r% b
should be carefully watched. $ o4 ^) Q% I3 }8 o" @; i- @& \
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
; \0 k: T+ ]8 C& l0 D# Lthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,
( |! n2 S% j; e* k# Kthen do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is
/ T- D* ^! p' P" z: I2 {! M; v1 |somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served

can always say truthfully that the stomach is full.
