What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind ! V# G: M( W/ Q( H1 ~$ E! ?' C
are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas ! ]+ a9 a# W! L& m
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
& y8 O8 ~6 m9 Cpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then ; P3 m& P5 K+ J( G3 \5 L9 t4 r& h
eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can
5 h8 n" U* b! g3 n' {% D2 b  Nsmartly avoid it?1 J% p' K# }; D3 {% X0 G4 D1 ]0 G
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out
+ U; q2 y* Y, }! ?1 `6 w+ ]: lat a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem , X, l/ g& ~# k3 k8 s& T
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of ; L$ g; M2 c  O. n
moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
* Z& @' V8 S& ^Budget.'& `4 q9 O4 @( @

risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always & h, R( v! o" C9 ~1 T1 V. S# ]
be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies
- g& C: Y9 S0 U6 g2 mare offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
: y8 ?3 A  ]3 t9 ~  Uespecially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more 2 E$ ~+ ^5 T  D) V0 i
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
% V3 D8 A% f/ t$ K. m?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
# v9 M- \  c, msubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with : o5 e5 Z1 ]5 H$ j1 g# U- O2 R
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, ! H$ N5 D9 `# ~
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to
* z: l/ t% a, S" x! [tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
0 s$ L3 D  n$ A8 [5 Z5 ~$ i% {play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will : d% t' B1 k+ l) I% F
be watching how you really eat. You can always have a few candies, one cookie or
9 T5 u' I, V  Ua cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
+ j# s2 z* \+ X! Lupon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
7 M% Y, L& H& w. n2 U/ ycandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.

Dinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
% \2 |5 W# F' {! Z9 @4 l) _on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected

At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of

can always say truthfully that the stomach is full.
