are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas
" z, F. a+ |9 ?; W" ntherefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
3 ~0 f4 i. ]' ]8 o* q8 x  J' xpleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then
* X, N1 Z! `* keat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can 1 i% S; z# Z7 [! U- }. u+ H8 L
smartly avoid it?: |& n5 c* ~: N+ L" N/ o" Y( S
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out 7 q1 S, B. f6 W
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem 7 N% B0 i6 ^  E- n: ~
to be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
! n6 _/ b* |  ^, y4 m% q% f2 V) gmoderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a 7 v2 L# c# h$ Y$ l7 u) ?
Budget.'

be something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies : C2 F; o& X+ V
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays 2 s; w, n$ x3 {& t6 S
especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more % C  Y  C2 l9 _
relaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower. ( r6 s& K& U3 t+ ~
?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
! A# {3 E2 w; N8 q( Usubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with . ^/ J4 R& @. X" r
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, ) E0 t7 |/ S2 L& V
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to % y8 b/ N* o- e7 |5 I
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into
( _4 }' r2 P+ r: [! z2 Dplay. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will

?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies , `) J) `; h+ W
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating * R# G5 ?& W  O6 s: X! H$ u
healthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down
& }6 X' w2 @. L" V* P1 Tupon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
7 |' K: Y: D; U* Z3 Bcandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies. * D" ]6 g5 n2 @% O5 }9 G
It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners

on a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected
