What Makes Christmas Magical

During the Christmas season, summer and its body-conscious state of mind 1 Q  I7 `  {8 G+ P7 Z# e
are distant memories. Hearty indulgence in the many foods shared at Christmas 3 G8 l, q; J, [, d5 S
therefore doesn't produce the same feelings of guilt. Nevertheless, its not a
8 I4 u& r) f- T4 Ypleasant thought to start the New Year carrying any extra pounds. So why then 3 @) ?/ v" }4 T! _* c( ~
eat yourself into a resolution to 'take off a few extra pounds' if you can . G! ^: {3 u9 n8 y/ f( j* h
smartly avoid it?4 {) \& P4 w0 E% u- b
?Whether it's sharing cookies and candies at work, or having an evening out 0 N. F) v. q% N8 q! n2 q' n. H
at a party or dinner, you can have Christmas food and enjoy it. While you seem
9 z; j! F$ b# i* D4 q7 mto be eating heartily with a smile, the key is to have a secret strategy of
" W5 j! u, t! q/ `moderation. It involves sticking to a plan that can be called 'Eating on a
+ E) O/ H$ q. F- ~+ _+ RBudget.'

moderation plan is developed because it is almost impossible to avoid exposure ; v3 ?" @  j# j' d
to a lot of cookies, candies and other sweets at Christmas. At work, you may ; \7 [4 k* ~3 o+ O
risk appearing like the Grinch who stole Christmas if your response will always
, Z  D9 Q; B# m+ |" j2 Zbe something like, 'Uh..no..bah humbug' all the time that some Christmas goodies 4 O5 d  L& L8 |$ Q
are offered. It will seem as if you aren't in the spirit of the holidays
5 X& o( G( ?7 y" W9 s3 F; `$ K; A/ ?especially since at that time of year everyone is usually in a festive and more
7 p3 i$ h" K& Mrelaxed mood, and the pace at work is usually slower.
. Z" a, b. T! N- p) {7 b?A practical way to partake in Christmas goodies, for example, is to
; j  {( Y. {1 fsubstitute some holiday cookies for say the bagel that you usually have with : I( A9 v% s) `: \
breakfast or for a mid-morning snack. And instead of just taking one cookie, 5 z) B( @( u# z7 f3 c, f: [2 {
from the platter, which is noticeable and likely will encourage a colleague to 2 X. _0 a! P8 m% x. k
tell you to have more, take three instead. That's where the plan can come into + A/ q/ C/ Y$ q  z9 A" y! |
play. You can then enjoy the cookies over two or more hours,ed hardy hoodies, because nobody will

a cookie and a half by your desk and that way it will seem as if you are

/ W; r' L3 x4 h* r?Another strategy is to bring - bake or buy - low calorie Christmas cookies 7 o# b, W* D0 Y. d
and candies to work to counteract others that are being offered. Since eating
- @4 u! H$ o$ Y6 S9 q2 J% ?5 Khealthy is highly encouraged, health-conscious cookies will not be looked down   G3 W9 M" f8 _% \
upon so long as they taste great. A box of sugar-free Christmas chocolate
- G3 W( S3 e- Z; D0 ~% j3 Y( a  Icandies for example will look just as delightful as regular chocolate candies.
$ r) f# ]. C4 h9 W; H5 Y! {- ~It's interesting to note that in a poll sponsored by the National Confectioners
+ m  _" P8 I, p- R" |Association in 2004,christian louboutin pumps, chocolate was the favorite food gift that Americans said ' o, F% l% B; a3 d) d
they preferred to receive for the holidays. The lowly and much maligned fruit 5 N3 r$ x+ R8 d! f) Z
cake was last on the list. The second favorite holiday food gift was a fruit 6 B% c7 Q1 ~9 u3 k, x, D
basket and a plate of cookies was third on the list,abercrombie bags, according to the ; L" w& G% d9 Y8 S8 @8 M
Association.
9 J0 g) a* l6 I! ]For an occasion such as a Christmas party or a dinner, including Christmas
! s1 M+ b4 F/ F! eDinner, where larger quantities and selection of food is available, the 'Eating
- X% i7 `9 i* lon a Budget' plan means that serving portions and the choice of food selected
" \4 I! `# P5 s" pshould be carefully watched. 5 C4 U; }, F7 o, U2 q4 E2 x" V
At a party where more desserts and sweets are likely to be available, a few of
1 y) B0 A9 L! I9 s+ b+ d7 d' f9 mthe selections can be sampled. If the urge to try everything can't be resisted,
* U9 S4 ?1 R6 a$ @" mthen do so, but then second helpings have to be severely limited. The same is ( R! v1 q' X; N, v# `! Q5 ]6 I: G( z8 J
somewhat true for Christmas Dinners. One big difference is that the food served
" E7 T" D. g  |. z' E* pduring Christmas Dinner will be heavier, so by selecting portions wisely,air max tn, one 2 G: @& i1 p3 A$ ]0 @
can always say truthfully that the stomach is full.
