Albertans worried about the looming spike in natural gas prices could be in for another shock when electricity in Alberta is fully deregulated, says a consumer advocate.

Jim Wachowich of the Consumers Coalition of Alberta says the province's plan to deregulate retail power - which was originally supposed to be completed next year - could impact almost every household.

In June, Alberta Energy delayed the plan to fully deregulate electricity, instead announcing a new five-year regulated rate option.
