Jim Wachowich of the Consumers Coalition of Alberta says the province's plan to deregulate retail power - which was originally supposed to be completed next year - could impact almost every household. 1 u+ ]6 X0 [: x; i5 T6 W

While natural gas has doubled in price this year, Wachowich said electricity has - if only momentarily - seen spikes of up to 2000%. He said that happens because electricity can't be stored and is always susceptible to price fluctuations.
7 w u. w% N" r% H1 B8 J2 P

If the province doesn't carefully manage that shift, power bills in every corner of the province could see huge swings, Wachowich warns.
