FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enterprise Data
" S- n% F# j5 f5 k- N; j9 |' @• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
; j3 A, Z1 P) S4 L. h• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
' y5 A0 `. S% t5 H• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
; y2 A. {. O+ B7 e+ F0 X% T- f% I• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
1 m' i$ E: k  A% ]! x) d/ C% a1 l• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
. a- T( O0 E% w& d, Z• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
7 r. v4 P8 P) H3 a/ a5 x# Z• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
% C$ `$ q! X+ C' X• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
* E' K! r: x% B& o) s6 Y• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
+ f* l4 [5 `  J! F! O0 I9 B• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
% R( A  u7 l' D" W• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
/ W5 W2 r, Y: u; n; @; X- @5 A$ |• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
0 |8 [$ ^) D( _* o4 W9 A( v• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
/ |/ T9 ]9 p, K( Q* Y5 H• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
