Yellowstone is the last place on the earth I want to go to.  Do you know why?

Beacause the Yellowstone National Park sits on top of a SUPERVOLCANO.

It is not just any volcano.  It is a very active SUPER-VOLCANO.

Yes, very active.

How often does Yellowstone erupt?
Every 600,000 years and last one was 640,000 years ago.  We are 40,000 years past due.
So it is coming, it just we do not know when.

What would happen after SuperVolcano erupt?
The area within 100 miles will be OVER immediately.  Meaning, everything will be covered by extremely hot lava. When TOBA supervolcano erupted some 700,000 years ago, there were 6 years the earth was in volcanic winter.  No growing season, no food source.  There is no summer, the temperature in summer deacreased by 15 degrees globally.   Only 1000 human being were left on earth.

But the geysers stink a lot....好多小朋友经过GEYSERS时都唔着鼻子，一股臭鸡蛋的味道。It is still very worthy to see the beautiful geysers...my favourite is yellowstone lake geysers....

No worries. If you worry about the erruption, you had better look out everyday when walking or driving. Because the possibility to die on roads are much higher than the volcano ejection.
