Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre


Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
2 Z& i& v' j7 [/ @ Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
 Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
+ o/ m7 F4 [' ~9 l* W Completing required paperwork.
0 ~9 V; Z  D2 `( l+ Q Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
% o- G5 e# }: p3 b! t) m Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
" I% `4 \# A# W9 f0 Y, t% ] Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
4 _1 s+ v8 y" v- ] Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
  h, n. R8 F4 S1 K# V0 H% n Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
 Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.


Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
  B' o2 M- ^) g( y4 k. | Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
+ a! N1 q$ L" ]3 `; u4 b$ { Knowledge of community resources.
 Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
 Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
6 h% W: Z6 W: u  H, y0 DThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
5 ^' h: C% X6 R1 a4 N/ d& i6 ~starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
