Driving with parking brake on

My friend just phone me asking about this question:

1 W9 Z" }$ R. J$ C7 m" wShe drove her car with parking brake on for about 15 blocks in downtown. She did not feel anything unspecial but when she stopped and lose her parking padel for red light, she heard growling noises. After she noticed the parking brake was on and put down the parking brake, the noise disappeared. She is worring what damages it might cause to the car. Her car is a 99 Toyota Corolla.

Can anybody kindly response to this issue?

Based on my experience, your friend does not need to worry about it, no big damage to her car, I think. For some people, it happens sometimes or once a while. But she should pay attation to it in future.

应该没什么大问题,只是磨掉了一层brake shoes而已,而且parking brake cable是会自动调节的(很多是当你倒车的时候).实在不放心的话去车行看看brake shoes还剩多少,是不是该换了.
