Financial Literacy Trainer / Coordinator

In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.

SEDI is hiring an in-house financial literacy trainer/coordinator who will help build financial literacy programs across Canada.
! O3 D* V$ U0 M. p, X* z6 [SEDI is staffed to:
3 _; ^# _8 q7 t u3 }• conduct socio-economic market and policy research # P# N; i" x8 ?8 x
• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners
7 p& ^$ L, T2 i/ W/ A+ `3 Z• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation 8 j+ J9 w' j0 h
• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs 6 i5 z! K9 z8 ]' y: D/ A: n
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits
' K; g1 F; O B: ?/ W# {• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses
! f' R+ R5 _! T) M9 K. Z• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada 8 i, T# x. L4 E
Primary Responsibilities and Activities: . L. k0 f6 X- Q/ N5 W. A) _0 t+ U
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada : N4 i! r S9 p4 \$ d9 Z
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc) # ^2 T: P* \+ N- p7 J6 f* k
• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required & }# C+ m. {: r
• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities 9 ]( B3 y R/ M0 A) W; \
• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
7 s, C) d& h/ c) b; R$ W3 E9 L L• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required ; {% g6 @/ X* N7 \$ C& c; B3 Y. a0 n
Other Activities:
) n' V4 H9 `. e3 w• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies
2 P% e, @. n- m1 F# @0 c! x0 k! B• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners
7 T8 E: z/ K" ^8 ^• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
7 B3 |0 R6 [' I2 C# v% N• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
2 F( k( b$ r0 V( {/ W• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

' X$ y( z, Z, \* {• Demonstrated group facilitation experience 0 x2 s+ @ Q' C
• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media + G' ?% m" F% e B( _# U2 T. m
• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training

• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams & Y+ S( O" `: Y2 M: Q! s
• Passion, enthusiasm and deep commitment to the SEDI mission, vision, values and goals $ i; `9 w, i3 ?
• Demonstrated understanding of basic financial literacy concepts & Y, u7 ~) J2 a( ^
• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them
; l) _3 U# g7 L9 {• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc
/ T m$ W- l5 M7 h* z6 M8 B• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education ) c# ^9 I+ Y2 W7 r
• Content / curriculum development experience # K, p/ v9 k2 a; W0 H0 i1 d
• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners 7 L, {4 i0 X6 y8 K5 ]8 Z I. \
• Excellent organizational skills
7 S) i) H9 p- S7 z c* R1 O# I• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.

• Policy research skill set is an asset + q$ G9 q4 J2 m8 w
• Marketing and communication experience an asset
