T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip
/ N/ d& r4 j. UAsian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering 7 p0 v: ?- ^' ^/ S6 Z
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
+ s* ^2 W( l4 x9 L% j4 p& Dinterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
! z5 l/ P9 M- C1 Y7 land  Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.# T$ K9 z# b/ l$ b/ u

Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.+ B, I' f" i& o* ?' A& u8 j

 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation
, N& L* O6 q6 s# H: @ Learn how to access community services and programs

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
8 F- f. J( b) T" v; D# U# sSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
; Z' a0 T- u% H( j1 X                              2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily

6 {( y" Z( p; f7 U1 N% k& _) iWho can participate?! H) M6 s2 q- b, l5 {. C
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.8 ]; y2 K& ]6 y( o; Z

9 G! U+ R* F  P+ jWhat is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
3 p, x9 y( g  ?! NIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.

Volunteer’s Duties:' o6 l6 P+ V: \$ B3 E/ |
5 N3 q) Q+ h8 L' R# z
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
2 S3 z! B! H7 Y0 O3 y Facilitate and/or coordinate   activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development * R9 j# t6 H" [" u  S2 _
 Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
1 ~/ Y% o, S7 ~  r Facilitate or assist in small group discussions  U- n# k% G. ^+ d+ O! t- m
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
9 V; M: L' v* u7 \1 Y( Z' c5 k Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips% U7 H, }* r" n6 F+ W. \1 j3 A, G
 Assist in program planning
4 ?! B3 A6 i  D* d  x Be a role model

) f) T( U+ a) X* a' DVolunteer Commitment:7 B1 C- b# y. Q9 v  y6 f  h1 X

, H+ @  ], L2 J! n" J3 o* P On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
  q+ |, L5 C5 V2 s) o One time volunteers:  minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer4 o) k5 O+ p/ e5 L5 J

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator  ]# L0 |, s5 @* ~
 Open and willing to initiate and maintain a positive relationship with youth in the program
! _$ c8 R6 @) o' K7 O A team player
2 B3 ^# Q/ E. c: J Able to work independently with minimum supervision
4 G7 |) H) J! c; V" ^2 O Value the building on strengths of  children, youth and families5 \( C7 O4 D; Q6 m6 C6 V5 I4 |
 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
7 V: q/ z, E* V: d% M  v# x: d. O% N) F3 I5 O' }1 d* W# Z3 P! c
