Job Responsibilities:& K4 D3 r* {8 h% d" b, P
2 H- ?) s, W V9 n7 U0 `Payroll:4 I* C4 B) q( Y" y0 _5 _
• Verify and process required documents when a new employee is hired
. S5 R L8 o' q* K) |0 I• Prepare and complete the twice monthly organization’s payroll
3 {! W/ J3 x/ r• Ensure the maintenance of confidential up-to-date personnel records ) {: H# D6 i/ h
• Input benefit deductions into payroll
# a* k7 X6 I1 T; O4 m1 y9 t) X7 Y1 A4 y( x& w
Reporting duties:
* N( |+ E( m8 F4 z# O: S6 M: K• Prepare RSP contribution file and send to RSP provider$ F9 h0 ]9 M$ r4 J% \' Q
• Prepare New Hires report for Statistics Canada and upload it onto the Statistics Canada website
; J' N0 l, v8 Z0 c9 ?! _• Reconcile payroll to T-4’s and T-4A’s and prepare and send T-4’s and T-4A’s8 z$ N" J4 | i8 a9 ^. t' Q! u
• Reconcile Worker’s Compensation Board expense to payroll, and submit Worker’s Compensation Report to WCB authority
5 G! p# V: I8 z2 I# o• Complete employee records of employment and salary confirmations

# ]( _ F) U2 p" i) |Compliance:
; r* y# e) v7 ~8 l+ m7 [( A ]• Ensure compliance with Canada Revenue Agency’s regulations regarding payroll
8 [0 J) k* h3 g# M• Ensure compliance with Alberta Labour Standards and other provincial regulations regarding payroll.
5 N$ i! ?% }1 y5 `• Ensure procedures for safeguarding and releasing personal information comply with Freedom of Information and Privacy regulations, provincial privacy legislation and YWCA Edmonton Human Resources Policies2 P* I0 G+ \! Y. n! ]+ D( N
• Act as information liaison between Worker’s Compensation Board and managers, and ensure compliance with Worker’s Compensation Board reporting- \9 a/ H" p3 G7 Q% m

! w, g) K9 t, a0 I9 P• Complete data entry of all receipts, cash and direct deposit2 U1 K% K4 `, [3 t# C7 k( M
• Note discrepancies between receipts and invoicing, and communicate discrepancies to appropriate department, B/ q2 P3 ^) g) Z( C9 i6 z
• Conduct debit and credit adjustments up to a limit of $10.00 and ensure manager’s approval is required for adjustments7 z B* Q+ C, s% k8 X: ?( ~
• Prepare and complete miscellaneous third party billing

• Post secondary education in computerized Accounting and Payroll Programs including working knowledge of Accpac ERP; d) T/ r9 n. V' v- P9 X
• Completion or in process of completion for certification by the Canadian Payroll Association1 r5 k: m$ \* f* h4 z+ Y7 S
• Minimum 2 years experience in a payroll related position R* O, g1 D- S: M/ ?
• Proven experience with word processing, databases, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office3 |7 [& C$ t) E; u/ ]; f
• Detail oriented and demonstrated accuracy in work
. R6 q7 n2 ~3 p1 }: U" F5 m• Establishes priorities, meets deadlines, and works well under pressure
