Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution9 n. Y) b4 T. p
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
8 i1 h4 s& ^; W" zmatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
y0 Z, u& V, P: |% F: `8 lin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800 {- F5 Q& t6 ~0 Y' ^) m! o
allows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject0 P, [% H4 B _2 Y( ^- m. |, l
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography! y5 }8 W: `: G7 A% b& U6 Y
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
/ m5 \" k. z; C& h1 kimage quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was
$ z+ ~4 q, u1 {widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
; n) `! Z4 G4 g4 ~2 oconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown9 b& q1 Q. o1 N: {; v' y2 B4 v6 a
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,
3 K3 w! E1 L1 @8 s- c Z, t' rthanks to the D800.
8 p: E& @" H8 _4 x9 ]When I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
# V1 N. J+ r; ^, U/ |1 n36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic- N4 |( C0 h4 g
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces/ `6 P/ s: h( t1 x2 C$ g) L# g
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a8 O( u9 E+ D* u0 H
D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as. F: H, u& s' q' x( i
well as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.
1 q a# `4 R/ e/ H0 P9 gAutofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor! m5 f3 A: V' u2 a
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is0 K$ o% K+ O4 n; t( b: I k4 v
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while
! Z) G0 _; Q2 [also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New5 ^, q6 ?# c7 I5 C8 j
cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features
/ G% K0 t4 s/ [( bin such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
8 R0 V! }) Z4 ?1 F3 eprints and video.& e0 M/ ~ C5 W5 d& T# U
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
! }3 u: ^, j( Q; [0 [; w+ ~0 M) _not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models! D1 @- x6 G. x- Y- c" }2 w
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using: ^- f1 `9 g& H! b( N* V
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first5 i. j, h4 V! s& K1 b! \' J" q" `6 R2 S
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
" a' K& V! I, R; `* B$ N5 |. ]like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
* U: D$ s' E( z/ r+ |/ Hacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
5 E0 r+ O' s+ T! B' x8 mam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
+ i: J0 q, N& v4 B$ J! qthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
3 i8 k8 }* P$ c$ @0 c aphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add5 h I7 G& u& w! c" z
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the+ E: O- h+ l' t' u+ z: [& k- u0 Q
D800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express
+ v+ v+ b& W# l+ m2 Jis that now I will think differently about the images I make.
& N( m$ m k+ V, G) K( HAs a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,( T! o1 l4 K# @! A2 ]: a& X
compact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal- o% _; y4 c. W8 d# f
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for% C# a( M5 Q4 \" }7 P
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital6 m# m, r0 ?) d$ e
camera that produces images with such exceptional quality and detail till

architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they5 f' \- h4 U8 g& P6 a
perfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly
. e* p+ @; C8 a6 ^, i' G* y8 |clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility( m, b4 I( m! v- J8 e4 @. I
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional
