Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution- C: f# h |; A$ T" }' R m
within a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color
) T l# @: r" S8 h/ Imatrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance
" _+ U- t& S) U) i* Bin low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
0 ?; z- M7 ]6 w4 @1 ^( Uallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject
+ B! |9 w) O4 d, n- F, p5 dwithout having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography- T5 b8 N/ T, L$ s" E6 c9 V" o
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum
( i( | }, V, I; \0 ^6 ^image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was& M V% I: x1 H9 e7 Y9 X0 C
widely accepted that image quality was compromised in lieu of speed and
* K9 l# B5 g/ ^) ^; ^. Fconvenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown- U3 A5 f8 l \7 D% B; q
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,; j A$ v6 X) t5 o
thanks to the D800.
. d! C( P7 o! A" W6 d' FWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,
; W. `9 p. {, {# Z' R _+ n1 Q' I36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic
5 h( P8 ?4 f; A7 ~- n7 b; zrange, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces. P% C Q. M1 X1 ?3 E
the look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a
5 n$ k6 F" |" f" T" V3 {D-SLR. The improvements in rendering skin tone and specular highlights, as
. G4 _: i6 R0 V. Swell as fabric and hair detail are superior to anything that has come before.- B' q& [2 |$ X Z" N* e9 J; {
Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor: O+ I% P, a! d/ b& Z/ C' `
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is4 `- `+ h5 t) Z* b3 P9 G$ ?& r
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while4 N& q! F ]* z; G6 f8 s. X7 M
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
+ O L9 B/ q- H( rcameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features1 i. i( q) Q+ u2 ?4 a- z
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality" J) O" G' B B: q* i
prints and video.3 I g: B; h/ b) E
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is
1 R% O0 p9 e3 ]not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models$ z/ k) Z+ D: f) S8 m* N3 f+ n6 p
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using3 r+ z2 t+ N$ G, C7 [- G4 E$ z% u
countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first( z1 F, ^. f" w7 n
sight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws
. {( v2 r1 G# ^% ?7 r/ X# \like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of, S) y5 a; u0 n/ [ L& T
acuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I
( B( G5 n, ]0 Z2 Vam enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
- t; |8 o: C& i0 n/ \( N, zthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse( ]& B& h; A/ M
photography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add! U, B$ x0 B8 c# K5 t
tremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
y" d, c B E' }9 c6 q$ w' LD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express1 R* G& f& |1 v3 I1 c
is that now I will think differently about the images I make.

" v( {6 x2 {. Z' s0 Hcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal* _' v" I0 a5 {. h
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for2 w* Q, T9 @, m6 A u5 ]8 W/ i3 y7 [$ h
the high-end 35mm D-SLR market. I have never worked with a 35mm digital
6 I% w8 a0 {' x! {4 B! C% Gcamera that produces images with such exceptional quality and detail till" {9 c. [' ^. Z0 Q6 p: [, u1 D
now. Particularly, the live view mode enables extremely precise compositions f0 m7 H/ C+ O1 d* }. q: W0 K4 W
and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior3 ^* X3 C7 b' ?, H
quality lenses such as the PC NIKKOR tilt & shift lineup are indispensable for
; K& t! a( w, y, F2 M* s; x3 _architectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they
6 U1 {/ a& Z- n0 uperfectly match with the newly invented system and produce breathtakingly: w8 K* L9 ^# r( J7 X
clean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility. u9 f+ o7 ^# h) i6 W8 d: ^
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional- A2 u6 i+ y3 B: M% {6 y
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality/ e/ t b. \# [1 r' s5 ]
