Responsibilities and Tasks
' g9 E7 I% {, D( P4 ? L4 m5 F. o0 O
\, [; V0 y- c' _& o }, ?- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
+ \/ b3 K! t) v/ T2 s$ F& a- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
, D6 g1 A% {% m: ?7 S7 p3 y1 p- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
" C! S0 X- i& S+ D- Select type and size of pipe required
, [7 D6 C0 c( ~0 ^2 [5 S- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
9 ~/ v3 J2 G! v7 y: h* R: s9 p- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
2 Q1 m/ d3 d& h- S: I* h% E- t- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems! q* Z5 d3 x8 W4 t: }2 c$ @
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
4 E) V6 n4 C3 h* z; @: ^- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
4 n" i: U) s' c3 [$ g, b- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
& H7 Z. R3 D. m+ T5 E8 w- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

Required Qualifications
E' |8 V" E% E8 y5 W( f
" C! Q$ o* p! C9 v+ d/ W- Completion of secondary school
! M/ d" q Q* _: F" c$ S" e- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
, @9 B5 M( ?! ]0 f1 _- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
; O& |6 X. M' Z5 m- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence* h8 G* D7 u& x
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset6 X% o0 W# X A
- Safety tickets are considered an asset
9 `( G, |0 F% Z- C5 W& ^- Valid drivers’ license is an asset
