- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
0 v- i2 ?3 M. C- w& _9 V# M! V- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
% i! Y3 Q; _' ], r& y- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
- ?9 b" O7 ^# l0 s9 j/ }& t( a- Select type and size of pipe required
3 k) c1 K+ G8 i r J+ c1 `0 |- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools2 [- y0 E' T. L! ?) n$ x( d
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
& O( `+ w: i: x. _- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems" ` \9 e* r# `# T
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment/ X2 z* H9 C# z5 |
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system

- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program

7 {( L: c w) n URequired Qualifications
6 ]- v. b6 L# L; |- ^/ e3 t; n% q5 [& m+ S \, _# @/ ?2 M( N
- Completion of secondary school9 l7 d: M, |7 R" a4 F) O! @
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation * g( r2 c7 s0 f- V& Y D6 ?
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals5 n& \1 v( i1 ]% E, z: K& K
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
4 L) S0 T# i5 k1 W- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
6 Y% v5 Z. E! H0 q/ S7 F- Safety tickets are considered an asset

- Interprovincial Red Seal is an asset
