Responsibilities and Tasks

9 B3 Z: W) k, D, W$ I7 A- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
h$ I) y) j1 u- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
% u1 O& o5 S5 o o+ y1 T" U! i9 o- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
; q4 ~* P2 ]- \( n$ G; j- Select type and size of pipe required. u5 d& }% |4 y1 G
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools9 F$ a( k |: Y. Y; @1 j1 L
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system$ R8 E# N+ F" g8 R5 V) p
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems$ F& k4 V8 N6 `
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment8 h1 u) M1 e3 ]
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system1 V" J- o! r; i, Y6 w. N
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system3 N5 E) i! | B4 O8 Z# B' n
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program6 E" `' K. a1 b6 Y! `; T
- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business

- Completion of secondary school. T- _" M: M9 a0 {
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 7 g' H. L, z p: u0 Q1 i
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals# k- i+ z9 {$ O, ~/ E0 J. H
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

- A minimum of 5 years’ work experience as an industrial Electrician
