3 m$ Z3 q5 `8 L* `* @
; T, c8 A& v% T3 w& T7 A
        1. I couldn't care less.
* c" k1 ^$ E4 `2 ]: V
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: ; B0 f) r9 r0 k. D/ V/ c$ u" B% u# D
" D3 j  y5 {2 l. F0 b8 @
What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?)
1 v* H, i0 A+ e/ u' `2 Z
9 Q. D* M" j: P  l7 q, W2 {8 H  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎) 5 c2 [( w( S: ?) W) I# \% h1 n
- k) j6 y" B* W
  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?) 9 j* Q" R+ ?1 N" }
; D) X" ~  W3 z& r3 R: x
  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
3 P1 j4 a( ?2 F2 q5 \  d# j% e0 ?
2 n2 n! b/ K/ F# p1 U" x$ N& a# N5 L0 n, U( @
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪) 6 `+ [! x4 I/ C- ]' c! ]! p0 J+ o% ?

Yes, you do(care).
0 L. w1 ?( r4 H3 w) W7 d: ~9 s! O* U4 [1 b( l! I2 r6 ^
I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
; m3 W$ J- ?3 ^- q4 {/ \. |, f  L' K! l
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意) 0 I. q) _8 g; G  y
% c& [8 [: S0 b1 l4 h' L4 S
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
2 e- j3 P7 N$ ~" c: b6 M( Q" S; c4 F4 u; w' U. s
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right. ! o* f/ C  a% M& P, q/ P3 c

B- |7 O' K7 e0 t, z

2 Y, r0 Z/ b/ S+ A, `* s, K: k  I couldn't be more wrong.
# T; I; r  q3 o1 J/ ~5 I: {1 B. y
* @1 R8 C7 Q!
I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) 7 Y; @6 B" {) `' F% s. @$ F

  f1 A5 E5 n0 o- Q2 I  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。) . \9 t) {- W! @* C9 f5 l) Y
8 Y" n1 m/ b& L) y5 i
  2. No bones about it. 5 u5 y- F  I8 a1 \- W

& v* _3 V' x! \/ V8 N. {! T  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如: / i# K& \( E  Q8 z
3 E9 w3 d+ o- t- Q9 b
  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) 8 }/ ]5 ^& S5 |. m3 H
2 f$ o# n( L% R& Q1 l
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。) % m% r" _9 Y. ^/ g$ ^, k

4 A! H  F1 I% |4 \' e3 Y  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) 6 d9 a# a1 N  G! Y- o
5 |- `( K' ]: _% |6 q: m% n5 @
  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了) 8 }( x$ f- f. A; _

2 e  y- b' n" q2 r. w7 N  3. take it on me!
2 E# L* i$ N0 ~/ H; B, X) z! C! G2 G) v# y" U/ a' T
  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
4 O: ^" M) L8 o. t+ N6 h9 h* T3 S6 n0 v  g) Y
  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (one = candy)
( U+ l0 _/ o! o8 u2 q+ S5 {( O* G8 p2 t9 S
  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) 0 f/ ?8 C9 ]$ F1 l! k
& ]2 D& q$ g4 i9 L& V
  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!)
; a0 A3 S5 T+ ]
* T- B2 ^! m4 t; `+ }  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。 + H$ T3 J, a5 G) d6 C8 `

2 V- @: G3 M# k2 m0 d9 n, ^/ Q  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.) * N) R5 I- q9 U$ V! `/ w$ S

5 A3 b, W5 A# \6 G  4. I am from Missouri. 1 i- A: B) t4 V! c2 L

6 d; L' u! d" t& e8 s  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。 + q/ [) z, b" w; k2 L' L: G
! u/ @6 P8 z; I! t) _
R: d% ?$ t: ]0 W0 V

3 R' n9 ]# ^3 L% x! S% A  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri.
2 V  V4 ]% Y5 G
+ P$ u# V, a; A! o  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.) & g/ c4 U( a+ g% L

6 R# \9 k- V7 R  L# F; R1 E  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
" ^8 T4 B& J) \9 C  g5 ^2 S- k3 k: j% ?
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
