+ v' z" h; E! w& ^' Y" lExcept as otherwise permitted under this Act, a person shall
2 g$ A6 u; G+ o+ L( t. Wnot do any of the following:0 N: J, A: S8 g( S8 u: R
(a) drive a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
- s: t+ C& U+ I) W8 {vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;5 i: O K2 a0 t2 ~8 C
(b) have a motor vehicle on a highway unless the motor
0 {& E5 l8 _- U! U: L" Mvehicle is an insured motor vehicle;6 \; s: s: \! G+ R
(c) where a person is the registered owner of a motor vehicle,
! w7 m( y$ q# X7 u0 K7 k# opermit another person
2 M" E+ H: i* w& l8 v. ]3 m: C(i) to drive the motor vehicle on a highway, or
" e2 P( I. N$ c& b% S" }- f& Q(ii) to have the motor vehicle on a highway,
; o* U8 D4 ^4 D! ] l5 J5 Wunless the motor vehicle is an insured motor vehicle;
: O) x7 T; x! w: E9 ^+ R/ V; m(d) give or lend a financial, A! H8 i& r: `* q
responsibility card or a copy of it0 t2 O; v1 O% e: r J T* @, U
to a person not entitled to have that financial8 n! G3 h) B+ g4 y
responsibility card or copy.

8 M6 F2 J$ J; B% L. N: s* E$ QIf a person drives or has a motor vehicle on a highway
! u' \7 n4 u8 G# {2 d/ \without the expressed or implied consent of the registered owner of3 Q. C: H- {' _5 t2 v8 _9 p: l
the vehicle, that person is deemed for the purposes of subsection
/ S- C& ]# S" \6 J(1)(a) or (b) to drive or have on a highway a motor vehicle that is: W: I) [8 Y8 o; w+ J$ q& k+ i# z
not an insured motor vehicle.5 p8 T& d, {, ~, Y

Act, the motor vehicle is still registered for the purposes of this

by an insurer who has issued an owner’s policy M, a/ Z9 c+ Y: z3 F" V8 R6 w2 S* {
outside Alberta.
0 F) f* N% S7 z$ I& G+ {* Z0 ](4)
8 B! }) |1 S$ ^+ v' fA person, other than a corporation, who contravenes subsection
4 U f9 c' q' c0 P(1) or section 52(1)(h) or 167(8) is liable,
+ J3 m, O) | p' `' A. k(a) for the first contravention, to a fine of not less than $2500
9 K3 K5 @) f7 V land not more than $10 000 and in default of payment to- Y9 o& K( y) H1 c2 F. s) n8 l
imprisonment for a term of not less than 45 days and not* c7 Z4 F, I+ R0 w) G
more than 6 months

Minimum $2500, if you don't pay, you will go to jail for a minimum of 45 days. |
