# R: t ^2 V% \( j" l3 X# PIn the tool kit are 75 common hand tools – like a hammer and screwdriver – as well a book on how to buy a home, a home maintenance schedule and other items. / t) |5 u+ [7 A) l" l) J# Z' S: `

“The tools are a symbol of hope for people trying to build new lives in Edmonton,” said Madeline Sarafinchan, president of the Edmonton Real Estate Board.

The program was announced by a group called Changing Together… A Centre for Immigrant Women. 9 l: C" @0 T/ ^/ V, U, g' U

; y+ d" L/ V7 `, N. d5 I3 O" CJosephine Pallard, the group’s executive director, said Alberta’s economic boom has caused a housing shortage that makes it more difficult for immigrants to find a place to live and integrate into Canadian society.
