EDMONTON — The West Edmonton Mall has reopened after police investigated a suspicious package Tuesday morning.* \0 W) x# _: x* b

The item, which turned out to be a DVD player, was reported to police just after 8:30 a.m. and officers swooped in to shut down entrances to the shopping centre.- I, g' c$ _+ _. \
, ?& O [3 {8 c6 \5 [4 t, S
Police evacuated the mall, and a short time later determined the package was merely a DVD player left on a bench outside the SportCheck store.

, k/ h2 a0 b3 T% K3 G"I think we made a very measured response and dealt with the safely issues appropriately," said Staff Sgt. Steve Jones. "We just contained an area within the mall."
