反对C24的都是有双重国籍的人,如台港,印度,欧美来的加拿大人。 对大陆来的只有一个国籍的人如果也反对的话, 那么只能说他喜欢自虐。

Edmonton – Mill Woods is one of the city’s most diverse ridings, with people who have immigrated from all over the world calling it home.

As a result, immigration and controversial laws around citizenship are coming up a bit more often on the doors, say candidates.9 \: F$ U0 M0 n8 c ~( v1 S5 l6 A
Conservative candidate Tim Uppal said his party has an excellent record on welcoming newcomers.

Uppal also defends bill C-24, legislation that allows the government to strip citizenship from dual citizens convicted of terrorism or treason. He said when someone has been convicted and served their time of a charge as serious as terrorism it’s common sense to deport them.
/ ?* z3 u$ }) u$ W6 I, H“If we can have their citizenship stripped, because they’re a dual citizen, than I would rather not have them in this country,” he said.

1 r1 u! [, `8 [Liberal candidate Amarjeet Sohi said the Conservative bill is discriminatory, treating Canadians with dual citizenship as unequal.; f+ ~% K! _ `( |8 a
“It will not make us safe,” he said. “Every Canadian should be treated the same, you can’t have different punishments for the same crime.” j$ Y& T8 k/ V7 k
Sohi said he would prefer convicted terrorist stay within the reach of Canadian law.
( V$ w, R2 o/ b: k“If you deport a terrorist to another country, where there may not be any rule of law, where they can create havoc in that country, how does that make the world a safe place?”, }4 G; [, n* }/ F/ e7 M- G
NDP candidate Jasvir Deol said the bill has many immigrant communities worried.( J% b8 \; R% i2 O2 ?1 J
“People are really, really under fear and they want to see these changes,” he said.4 ], Q0 O1 T* `
He said his party is unequivocal about the bill.
