) G5 Z7 x% p, G# l# o0 x' yAn Edmonton-based trucking coming is facing $3 million dollars worth of fines under the Traffic Safety Act for allegedly operating overweight vehicles on city roads.* X2 u% ]# ]. G0 G+ T
A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street.
# ^* L0 q* E# A3 dPolice say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
% S6 f: Z) X8 R% J: K"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe.") x$ B5 ]7 l+ \$ s6 E+ \
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.

The company is due in court on Thursday, December 3.
