& ?$ z3 N @. b6 T! F) A9 x! KA police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street." V, s t% P m4 M9 u- {
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.
' }+ l/ [5 k% c9 E* a+ S"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."! g7 L2 Y8 V. j3 f
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.
