A police investigation revealed that between August 15 and September 19, the unnamed company made 1,907 trips to the waste management facility located on Yellowhead Trail and 170 Street./ D6 h/ k j% O! i1 N& s& g6 z
Police say the trucks were transporting loads that were overweight by a least one tonne each visit. One truck was recorded as being 17.9 tonnes overweight.6 Z- f4 U7 P( m2 S
"The company is facing a fine of just over $3 million dollars," said EPS Const. Dave Beattie. "It's a big fine, I'll give you that, but for the police it's not about the value of the fine, it's about keeping these roads safe."' M- r1 Z0 ` v/ A: S8 ^
Beattie explains that with overweight vehicles, braking can be a problem.
