中国同学遇见老外,想知道人家的姓是怎么拼的,经常脱口而出:
/ t3 F* h5 n7 G7 y( I ?5 T9 Z* R$ c: R+ ?: ]
How to spell your last name?" i4 _* l, f3 R" v# [
. q' M! z* }" f8 v: C
其实这种错误不光是中国同学特有的。亚非拉的同学很多都这么说。从语法的角度说,how to spell your last name ... 1 Z2 s9 o2 J; m! d) L
, E O L0 L% c" T) O) _* ]( Z
"how to..." is a phrase. Therefore it can't be used as a sentence like " How do you...; Since it is a phrase, it can be used as TITLE--you can use a word, a phrase or a sentence as a title. Same reason "how to..." can also be used as part of a sentence: " I am not sure how to spell your first name."
1 g2 X, j! w7 y9 U v
; }- [) y8 w' e- @- R7 y"Long time no see" is from old English.
4 Y, c* Y9 y: I$ M1 r$ s+ T" S4 ~; w$ o6 ?; p
"No problem" is short form for " I have no problem..." "There is no problem ..." so when used in answering something, it is simply expressed as "No problem". |
