Today I was volunteering at a post office. A man in an old jacket with uncombed hair came to the counter. He had a wallet in his hand, and put it on the counter. He told me:

$ D& i1 U/ j+ X! L1 \I did not understand what he meant by "it", because usually people would send a letter or a parcel back to the sender, and I did not see he had any of those. So I asked him:
/ o4 U! \" c. O- S g* } "I am sorry, what are you sending back?"
, {/ u3 c) p: i+ s' n7 J9 i( ?He said, "the Wallet, I am sending back the wallet." Then he added: "I am going to pay the postage." 2 ]0 ` L, g# L+ A3 u3 M# m
"Oh, you found a wallet, and you are going to send it back to the person who lost it?" 8 x0 H5 k, U7 J. _; D
"Yes, I did."
4 J- p' P0 N' c# _* J; qFinally I understood: this dishevelled man found a wallet, and he was going to return it to the owner by post.
, r4 t% P* I$ w% P& G4 bHe took the ID card from the wallet, and showed me the address of the loser of the wallet. I saw there were several one-hundred bills in the wallet.
. m5 X8 Z w3 w& N"Are you going to take some money from the wallet to pay the postage?". r) p; ?2 ~, Z2 }
"No, I am not. I do not do those things."8 X& F( F% q) P1 a. v
He took out his wallet, which was nearly worn-out, small, and almost empty. There were some coins inside.
9 c" A, ]# }) ^1 C3 l% xI gave him a bubbled envelope, and instructed him where to write the addresses. He wrote the owner's address, but stopped at writing a return address. He asked:! p+ o7 O+ j6 [% n; t7 u# B1 S! v6 e
"Is it okay that I do not write this part?") R8 d8 l' ?+ Q, P
"Yes, you may." I thought he must want to be a nameless hero. But he said:+ n% n: w. W. P4 r2 {
"I do not have an address."8 ^! @! Z f+ J- N
I was surprised: "oh, where do you live?"8 j; Q3 N: w2 _/ O5 ?* o7 z
He did not look up, and said: "I do not have a home."
0 T! m" U+ s3 _8 i# a2 j- Z1 VMy heart had a sudden jump. I realized that this is a homeless man who found money but was sending it back to the person who lost it.
