Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.
% O" [( U$ P4 n: O# m& pPolice Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.5 o6 R& N" u- j
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail.
% g8 k& w; j# ^Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.9 u. Y1 U9 ^* M2 h7 E8 N# K$ {4 |8 I
