Ottawa is going to apologize and give millions to former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr, according to multiple reports. 7 b( n- X9 ?( ]4 T Z

Khadr — who pleaded guilty to killing a U.S. soldier when he was 15, under interrogation that was later deemed "oppressive" — will receive a settlement of more than $10 million, according to unnamed sources who spoke to The Associated Press, The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail.6 p0 i4 J0 S1 p+ g. R B4 o

The Star said Khadr will get more than $10 million, but less than the $20 million he sought in a civil suit. Other reports said he will receive about $10 million.& E, B+ r1 y* C3 h) N% a( V
d# [( b9 Y+ \The government and Khadr's lawyers negotiated the deal last month, according to AP.

3 n0 [0 \' W0 f* H! i" CThe Canadian-born Khadr was 15 when he was captured by U.S. troops following a firefight at a suspected al-Qaeda compound in Afghanistan that resulted in the death of an U.S. special forces medic, Sgt. Christopher Speer.
