Ottawa is going to apologize and give millions to former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr, according to multiple reports.

Khadr — who pleaded guilty to killing a U.S. soldier when he was 15, under interrogation that was later deemed "oppressive" — will receive a settlement of more than $10 million, according to unnamed sources who spoke to The Associated Press, The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail.2 T& |4 q5 Z( J ]9 G1 U

The Star said Khadr will get more than $10 million, but less than the $20 million he sought in a civil suit. Other reports said he will receive about $10 million.6 o* r& I3 E7 w" g' u9 T! n0 g: D

The government and Khadr's lawyers negotiated the deal last month, according to AP. # ^. T& i0 Y8 Q. M0 h0 @( F

The Canadian-born Khadr was 15 when he was captured by U.S. troops following a firefight at a suspected al-Qaeda compound in Afghanistan that resulted in the death of an U.S. special forces medic, Sgt. Christopher Speer.
