Yiyun Li came to the US to pursue her PhD in biology after graduation from beijing University in 1996. She would have become a great biologist if her writing were not this good. She began writing stories and got published while she was studying biology at Iowa university. Up to now she has published many novels and short stories, and obtained numerous awards. Right now she is a professor of writing, Princeton University.
