Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works5 R8 X q2 G9 X+ w+ v
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets.
! ~* c1 g( Y" g7 H• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.6 }( H2 X3 d l
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing. v. \( R0 k6 W
• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.% Z& W# H9 K9 N' N! R& v
• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.7 M, m) S' Q8 p+ v
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.8 c8 o% U6 Q, k L9 D6 ~, T) v9 _) x
• Pesticide Applicators license an asset.) `9 t5 g! e; `5 w+ c
• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.5 u% H$ P% k5 l- y I
Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation4 ?8 {& W0 \* U5 i5 @
• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving., w. t, i1 _8 K
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights)." L7 q; w6 \3 I# n' V- ?
• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.

Recreation Facilities Branch, Community Services

, E( W2 B. [- s7 I+ l @4 u• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.

• Loading and unloading materials from trucks.

Job Requirements:
0 U# Q/ e, L8 O' c( P5 \' P• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.
& ]# l' k6 ?' c: q7 h6 s+ z• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.0 d' r" [, S+ Q& j8 l. G6 p
• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.8 \9 l& R, A+ K4 d5 H k" k" f1 w
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.1 n. q! z c# x( ?4 t6 N, j9 y2 `' a
• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.3 j/ J+ J4 l) s. d5 Y% ~, u' d" c& I
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions., v- F# p" w( K0 o
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.- B/ C& L, _1 {6 V9 C7 `
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
! l I1 Q- j1 v; p& p! sSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.4 R8 G& Y' ^2 T% D0 S/ ]1 P) Z
