increases the tuition fee by few percent every year and international

and most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were
# \7 |& h! ~0 c( O7 }asked to look for a residence on open market.* o5 K7 `/ |3 l( |/ ]; O4 Y
8 F7 {/ m+ h8 ~$ ?While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has 1 Q; {. j" c: n. w+ @: p G
increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid ! `: M0 ^+ J6 }( A0 G
exactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
{& E. O/ F! uadmission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students
, f! C# v! D$ T6 g+ ~3 e8 ?=19500CAD. What I get is something around 1000CAD/month!!! after 2 y. Z3 G, x4 |! G) w3 S, y3 T, L/ Y& b
tuition fee and taxes). To make the argument easy to understand just
; o- v, C1 x' z o& @5 limagine that a new student gets the same amount of money that I am ) }: J6 E; i# c6 c$ u1 z. R: q
getting now and I was getting 3 years ago but he or she (like all of 7 P3 H6 R d _9 v
us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was

- ^3 @+ p( E) g- nAlso have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of ' ~, h. W0 N% l6 V9 H- P3 [
Alberta has a remarkable record in absorbing various money and grants
/ j' I; H4 [; D7 tfrom different governmental and non governmental sources and graduate
0 ~; f5 V* J" |students are the main pillars of research work at the university.

My objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention $ p% L" S! T* S
is to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and 3 i; @* k3 F& D* \& j8 c. _
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take. X* `+ N% ^- t
/ I3 _4 o) J# S8 uinitiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for
' B. t3 q: K! P& u5 o9 }graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?: Y8 K m- Q& \! N- X0 b- @
