Position title: Community Development Worker

" |7 F2 V& i0 S" k3 JPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community/ ~0 M& i8 J" q
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
% N( U ~' Y) D4 Z/ q% ~4 \- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services6 N+ F! g" S& q' H f
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies/ p8 K0 ]- i' A @: ? c
- coordinate good will activities4 t3 P% [1 j1 b5 c/ V& i9 F6 ?9 I
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members8 V9 }) J- g$ i4 q2 Q2 V: F) I( M

- prepare and send AGM information to members0 O$ V4 [* |! K
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc." t5 T. r9 y7 R: u4 d; s
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities- K1 ]2 C* d4 C3 ~; I( W
- update ASSIST website

- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services

- explore new ideas for ISP : I/ C' f; n8 J
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- update membership database

1 b5 K( }, o7 r) V: ~- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education . b- S& I) s/ q2 c0 S! k
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills. V& i+ u( b- A8 }6 Z% V# P
- experience in community work and immigrant services
