Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community4 W* G1 G7 X) C/ a" H
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
) b3 H) P& z: j) P5 d \- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services! S# k, v9 j2 p3 q
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies& g) |, \: y; n
- coordinate good will activities# q# x% d/ t, N3 q
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members9 x7 W% u g# s
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre# |; {+ F7 A4 ?$ C3 M6 g0 v, i
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services" y* A+ x6 H6 c5 w- s+ M
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
& M/ m5 j3 U ^4 u% v2 V- write quarterly and final reports for ISP, N: G( o- N7 }( N
- explore new ideas for ISP S0 t* @# J1 D7 m$ U4 t
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
* b9 }6 I7 `% o! R: t/ O- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education

$ L4 t+ A+ C) G2 l4 w- experience in community work and immigrant services# q, C3 s# [2 s t6 n8 {2 P
