Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community. T2 ~- R- j1 c9 p7 |2 _7 ^& J
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
9 q: k6 u- E0 L: `! ]% B) B4 s- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

- prepare and send AGM information to members \' B/ y3 H: A- T
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc./ n# v- B# c- u6 B u- `1 z; K
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities2 A/ T8 ~0 F' m- M- m7 T4 V
- update ASSIST website9 P. L7 k9 s7 B; ]' c5 j
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre7 X) I: F3 g4 U4 r D# y' `
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services; h7 Z% H/ i7 x% h: C
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
9 T' D: I# s; W+ r* E, k- write quarterly and final reports for ISP" N* \2 z+ h7 i$ e& N2 K
- explore new ideas for ISP . b7 h# j3 x1 Z' m; e( W
- hold regular meetings with ISP team1 L' }' z' i1 M U' X7 ?9 I
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
" Z P% |5 d0 [4 r' n- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education , D2 R4 k) b2 S4 d) u
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
# r1 X. I: E/ x$ y- experience in community work and immigrant services; ~( \% x0 ]8 ]& G2 J: H
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars2 b) j0 G6 g1 _
- leadership skills
