Hello darkness, my old friend,
9 O3 U# q5 @& R6 f/ ?# x" X. v4 J$ TIve come to talk with you again,
: v9 {. V! W& F; l% m/ d4 UBecause a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

8 {1 g2 X$ v( {! SIn restless dreams I walked alone
6 n8 ?1 x4 I+ G- i; oNarrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
2 T" ^+ [3 r% ^3 t+ k, J7 H" ~+ fThat split the night
1 A# M9 b( Y3 hAnd touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one deared
- k# d' W4 W' Q# nDisturb the sound of silence.

In the wells of silence

And tenement halls.
And whisperd in the sounds of silence.
