Responsibilities include:

! I0 ]4 W, \! Q0 r7 ?) K1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)
& |# u1 z |$ J# W3 {• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
; Z2 Q) J0 p8 p2 S* g• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
! X" j% q2 ~* t6 j• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
. B" v! n# F: R+ u• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
8 c. d5 o6 k8 k! C6 o( J e• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.- I3 _; Q! E# `* ~9 _

2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)
8 q# j1 d9 x- r+ C• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.

• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s : n$ ]' U' [' h6 a; k, T, v# ~
3 T. ~8 U- K m- PCandidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

' n1 N' K! G* rThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
