3 p( l- V% t9 v- l3 dThe Alberta Association of Immigrant Serving Agencies (AAISA) is an umbrella organization comprised of twenty immigrant-serving agencies in eight communities across Alberta. Its mandate is to provide an association by and through which the members can work towards addressing the needs of immigrants, the agencies that serve them and the larger community, which welcomes them. , k# O) M& \' ~5 k& R! $ N/ S0 [( m2 F5 d- lThe Coordinator is responsible for coordinating projects undertaken by AAISA and for implementing decisions taken by the AAISA Board of Directors

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Project& u& \& `- V/ U9 l; B, y' h2 l' b0 m4 k
• Coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of AAISA’s communications program- b/ f% U" V. _6 B/ f
• Work with the Communication Committee to identify trends and issues and determine strategies for AAISA communications- a8 S" f4 u$ M$ P3 z
• Facilitate and Coordinate the work of the Communications Committee: p1 F! G; ?8 N H- X
• Prepare funding proposals and reports, with Committee direction.7 h0 M5 I3 w2 c9 i
• Facilitate communications within the AAISA member agencies and between AAISA and other stakeholders
! W( Q9 }( `, X: k( U+ e7 S• Identify opportunities to the Communications Committee, as they arise, for AAISA involvement or response
6 _& V5 X' B" M9 Q9 x6 m- |• Maintain and oversee communications project consultant contracts
7 V0 H4 A4 J& P6 K' x! k• Prepare speeches, news/media releases, brochures, audio-visuals, advertisements, reports, articles, newsletters and websites for defined audiences, as directed by the Communications Committee

• In consultation with the Research Committee, determine research agenda for 2009-11 and develop partnerships with appropriate research bodies
& K( `, J1 t3 y8 V• Maintain and oversee project consultant/partnership contracts/ ?% N! \7 p+ B: S
• Facilitate and coordinate the work of the research committee
, ~1 D' h! C |1 ~* J: ?• Network with other organizations doing work that is relevant to AAISA programming and research4 ]1 F* M6 u$ | w8 w5 f4 {
• Keep abreast of current issues in settlement and integration in Alberta

• Facilitate and coordinate work of Policy Committee4 r8 j* U* i# b& N" Q
• Maintain and oversee project consultant/partnership contracts.% W" y2 q. D5 c r
• Work with Policy Committee to address and update internal AAISA policies and procedures.

8 s5 Q, z% ^5 j2 d x• Work with stakeholders to facilitate the process of securing adequate space for AAISA and address current space arrangements.

0 |1 O2 N3 ^6 T# `) g• Assist AAISA Coordinator (Operations) as workloads demand.

• Post-secondary education in a related field.
$ _/ {, i* v( Z5 Y• Senior project management experience, especially experience managing complex inter-agency projects- g8 e1 x& u. Y/ f5 ^) l
• Knowledge of/experience within the immigrant-serving sector or non-profit sector
2 \4 S& c" F2 v0 c• Excellent organizational skills/ T& k+ e* c+ e' L2 w
• Ability to exercise good judgment and flexibility when working with shifting priorities and timelines' v4 e) I9 E5 A$ t
• Strong knowledge of computer applications. ; H1 |' Y" F0 M1 r3 _ ^8 l
• Experience planning and working with budgets5 v' B* n% O; ]: h8 X
• Ability and enjoyment for working independently with minimum supervision.

• Website development skills an asset.
