Duties
* }$ c( f' `* P6 a0 u3 h) n; S3 l, R! y6 F3 ?, G+ v
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
! @8 g. M- _& b! ~! H * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
6 e: u" ]1 a* g: b. H& I: i; l * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques" W3 g# M" a/ c' a Q! B& K/ I( W
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client: k# X; F4 W2 t2 f
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry2 G9 T) k% U% ~7 p
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
# X8 P/ y" \( t+ _; \8 x * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab- @" d* W! J) F# `
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices" l" a) h. @7 ?) u- z" d
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

Qualifications
2 ]0 D6 Q: ?; Z, M6 D
: o/ D+ A3 R6 g9 X * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
0 F. t1 v# k6 d, b7 w: ]2 b4 R, e& { * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
. [" D5 s$ b6 g * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
+ u3 Y( k' l- _+ g * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
9 j: _4 _ K1 O5 y5 Q * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
