Duties
7 M: J5 i  u" U3 e9 x9 a0 u
    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
5 ]/ Q6 U) z7 M1 L5 N( P    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
6 I: r1 j$ O  y6 G    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
( p; f6 x1 j! e" K$ ^3 G8 i    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
4 z8 X! `, W" F/ _7 }' u/ q* O    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
- e, r% F# V6 R    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
' x$ x# y. Y3 C4 U2 [    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
! b$ P7 J: H" p" ^" W    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
- G) Z$ D2 S2 x) ]; o- ?' g: S; x    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
, e$ p9 K5 D! [& ~% j: L    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
2 ^8 ~$ t9 g0 i* y! }    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
    * Fundraising skills an asset
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
0 k* H& n7 k  y2 Z; a    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
