( f& g/ }( Z7 g, s    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
4 y0 y% S  @* T    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
: a( O' U  b! M    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators! U% b; T9 h* t; [
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations1 ?0 A! ]1 S% q4 ^, K$ x7 ^
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director- f  r' R( F/ U; V
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses/ }+ V: g3 t1 s: I
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
% V6 G; ?$ W0 |    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
8 E3 F' j/ e) c6 M/ S. P" I    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
1 G9 P: T' v+ Z$ b% z* l" W- ]3 D    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports/ S% m0 E6 l9 y9 l4 N8 y$ E9 w
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs: i0 }3 e0 _) e. V
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly& M) f1 M. h( J
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities# o# c$ Y  d6 ~( n$ G, ]
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

! U4 b9 D# N2 _/ @9 |8 y2 z# Y8 }9 z1 m6 H0 I% O: W
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline8 s" ?( o  p$ ~1 ~1 S9 }
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth, ]9 M8 I0 `( H7 C4 S' B. B
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies2 `, A. T3 V* I9 @6 O9 p* ?
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
4 _( c' d, j9 J* ^, L' p    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
/ K) d5 H/ q; D    * Fundraising skills an asset$ x; m! {$ K: D  t* N
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
! {$ T; B5 H5 X' A: ?9 q- l    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
1 q6 l' _& }& v& T    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
- b9 F! H' z. u( `% k# X7 J    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
& Q+ ?, s/ \6 h& m; m5 w    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
