* g L m" z4 L7 _) U * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
! d O& O: P8 @% C+ e. l" m * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group" O; b3 X3 u& [7 v# [$ A
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators$ i* g: C! e- \0 p
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
& i z* R1 |1 v, W0 i * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
/ z; }! `# S5 p * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
/ U0 k( D$ J, E! D% C * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth- C, T3 l# c$ e* D" u
* Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
' [7 j. [7 d: G9 ]2 g) f * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment- w* [$ I6 b9 q$ N. J
* Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports6 Y. s) C4 N/ P
* Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
, O* `+ m3 h7 D3 u% s * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly& Q3 O* _/ b5 a
* Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
& b8 g G# K( f* Y9 l* I * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools7 g8 }& `! ~4 B! n& u

: P; Q/ V9 E! y- k0 C, s7 ] F * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
5 C5 X. r5 I7 [, k2 Q* n4 H- ^ * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
% U- h9 z2 j ? s * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
" P8 j$ i; j. [ * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs: m6 _! i1 b: P: Z8 d8 Z
* Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community

/ V% _! `- W" _/ }# |5 H * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills

* Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
