    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
" f' m$ c2 V4 U1 _) |1 w    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
* o/ e5 m' e3 |    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
: E) r+ s/ y: n5 [+ L    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations' Y! z' a: J1 M: ^; C3 J
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director* W* X( Q" H) W+ x+ |
    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
1 U% Y1 ?, t9 O  X    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth% n9 w2 [2 N! l1 M" M! i# B
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
0 \6 [* d# H2 {6 W    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
4 ]: k' `2 z: N- r, u0 p# Q    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports8 m$ R" x; ?$ L9 e  p
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
4 h9 ?2 G" M- f7 M0 R    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly+ {$ L. P; Z' ]* z
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications+ D1 v. n7 k1 \' q3 Y; x( I% I  {
" k( S" o& p$ j( C( W: s# ^
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
% o, a3 c3 |. X$ I    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
0 A0 g! M. b& p    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
1 n3 l$ T' H% H, i& {7 g& X, z- V    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs% M- }, F+ |( @8 W# Q9 ?( p
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
8 n. v( F& j8 {    * Fundraising skills an asset
7 r( N5 y/ i! y# b9 \% i2 ~# O    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills% r/ d' c) ?4 ^3 n# B* _( f
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills. N( Q2 ^, K; ~7 ]8 \  Z
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills( `+ G; e) y( p$ Z) n& C, g
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills/ J/ |, Y: e- B7 C
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset1 o3 G% s3 H8 D3 h# U
