Edmonton — Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in a west-end apartment yesterday morning.7 j# e5 c; D7 y2 s

Ambulance personnel were called to the building at 9023 184 St. at around 4:20 a.m., found the body of a 50-year-old woman inside one of the suites, and called police.3 J, h0 I, I0 Q

Investigators have not released the cause of death, but are calling the death suspicious.

Yellow police tape surrounded the entrance to the eight-unit, three-storey tall building as tight-lipped EPS officers walked in and out of the home throughout the day.1 H e( x0 g( ]* }- V% c

A twisted samurai-style sword lay on the ground a few steps from the entrance, the only sign of anything amiss in the quiet complex.+ O/ l# d D% Q' w- j; E) l

Though neighbours say they did not hear anything yesterday morning, some say the neighbourhood is less safe than it used to be.3 ]) C, R8 A6 I" f+ B6 x B
& l" w3 D) q/ u$ C X2 c; N“My granddaughter is 20 and is scared to go out,” Joan Harvey said while visiting her relative yesterday afternoon. “I’m scared for her.”
