Recently OPEC reduced crude oil production twice over just a few 4 F: q" F1 ?8 _
months. There are three wars going on in Gaza, Iraq and Afghandistan. : C# p" G M& X) P" N6 { \# I+ F3 J
A year ago these things would have spiked the price of crude oil by at 8 T5 f, U: a/ h% ~. r/ Q
least $50.00 per barrel. Today, oil price declined by a record amount.

There are several reasons the price of oil is decreasing in the face
! l) U) l" S7 I- J `1 ]of so much news. These reasons are:

1. New oil has been found in Canada, Montana, North & South Dakota and ( K0 L) v6 L, V. m; M
in the ocean near Brazil. Each of these oil fields has more oil than

2. New natural gas has been found in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

7 d! Y5 u H$ c/ _8 N- T0 O4. Production of bio-fuels is beginning to reach critical mass. Bio + z2 M( p9 x6 _5 _) E, b
fuel is being produced from many plants and algae. The production

racing to produce bio fuels.

5. Virtually every restaurant in the US and all food processing plants - [4 [/ P0 \: q6 r. A( I
are now selling their used oil to bio-diesel producers. Every pork, 4 y3 W( I+ Q; H5 F
cattle, turkey and chicken processing plant will soon sell their fat
2 B. `* z3 [: O: E& uto bio-diesel producers. One pork processing plant in Oklahoma is
7 C/ a H5 Y& A0 |1 [: @/ j0 |! lproducing 30,000 gallons of bio-diesel per day from pork fat.
( u# ?3 G: {* b+ E5 |& o: ~/ b/ T# s) d( Q6 C5 ?. E; H4 V( _! E
" y& u" |! ?) q" o6. There are 99 nuclear reactors in various stages of planning and , E# y' ~$ w- Z# C8 u- c, f& `" `* T
construction around the world at this time. Several hundred more are * W/ @/ e0 `& S
expected to be built in the future. Much of the energy they produce % K8 z5 t9 C$ W3 U3 I2 a
will replace oil.

with new more fuel efficient equipment. Airlines and railway companies

6 g( ]6 V. R) @, G4 o/ F/ G |- }8. Cities and counties throughout the US are selling the rights to
1 `5 n4 g y1 F; ncapture methane gas from landfills. This is a huge source of gas |0 _" P$ m" Q) U% f: G) }
available at very little cost or risk. The gas is displacing crude
) f+ Q+ k9 u m4 W- O. ]8 Voil.

9. Coal is being transformed into a clean burning liquid fuel. The CO2
A i5 u4 e* z% Wproduced as a byproduct is sold to oil companies for injection into
7 _$ d) j% G! o7 Doil wells.

10. Solar, wind and ocean energy is displacing oil as an energy
; t' z9 w+ O* J [source. Three new wind turbines are being erected every day in the US. 8 V. }! x* g9 A/ X4 l5 x, j$ y

Each of the above by itself will not make a large difference in the - @" }4 f' G7 I3 w \: b6 N
price of crude oil but the sum of all of them together is world * N3 u; H: I7 G( d. Z# p4 c$ z
changing. The important thing is that OPEC no longer has the ability
