Hello Everyone,
6 e9 E( D8 F3 s: KI want to let you know about a 3 week program you can take for FREE withthe city of Edmonton. You can learn about home composting, recycling andother things. It's on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday.Look at the attachment for more information and to register. The deadlineis this Friday, March 13. The program is in April. It would be a great way to practice your listening and speaking skills.

Master Composter/Recycler Program / Free!
City of Edmonton, Waste Management Branch
Note: Application Deadline is March 13, 2009.

5 ~/ S9 q- `. GDear colleague: once a year, the Waste Management Branch hosts the
3 i3 y( C0 f" L1 L5 A5 n( ?Master Composter-Recycler Program. Over a 3 weeks course schedule
  K6 F% Q8 t, W; B, N1 ]$ l& M(Tues./Thursday evenings and Saturday) volunteers will learn about
environmental stewardship in our city, such as: history of waste
management; home composting; household hazardous waste;
vermin-composting and residential recycling.

This course offers in-class instruction as well as several field trips
# _1 @- c9 c6 V) ?0 M8 ]& Ito various City facilities. After finishing the course, graduates
  Y0 ]; u8 r' \, Xcomplete 35 hours of volunteer activity promoting the four R's:
reduce, reuse, recycle and recover.  Graduates become important
resources in their communities as they broaden awareness about the
# P+ W! [" i- c0 b& @+ x; vimportance of composting and recycling.
% b0 T3 S" c) r: p) d# W
Examples of volunteer activities include: help with Reuse Fairs & the
& H8 z8 J3 n# I1 l. uReuse Centre; helping friends/neighbours with composting problems;
public education display booths; assisting with programs and
2 M' D6 }% w5 i5 \8 M$ j5 w/ jmaintenance at the City Compost Education Centres; assisting at
2 |) a1 f, p. k$ Dvarious demonstration gardens and general public and school
" L2 H. F- `+ r! W- Kpresentations.

6 f0 L: ~# ^" GThere are many other opportunities for volunteers to contribute and
2 x( a; y. Y+ x; ~! ovolunteers are able to choose the opportunities that interest them the
, n$ x) C; o, A) {* Kmost. Curious about recycling and composting and sharing your
. K, n8 M& j7 Y9 @, Gknowledge with others, then apply to become a Master
6 B+ F. c, q; h, T  LComposter-Recycler Volunteer!

Course Dates: April 14 - May 2nd, 2009 -Tuesday and Thursday evenings
-Saturdays all day - for three consecutive weeks.
