Duties. r" {; Q4 X9 D* \7 g/ P( [4 e
7 W: X' D7 r8 T$ m* V/ ]) L * Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications3 Y) E# {1 m, Z9 k" a9 j* h7 c
* Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis$ V3 Y/ ^2 |4 N0 o. j* U) E, W
* Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
$ H! B; R; e3 N4 w: X% A: S * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
7 j: M4 l* L, [8 |$ ^8 P * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies) P6 a1 Z0 y8 b! _. E
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
( f; _, c! C0 E1 ]' a1 v* F1 Q* x * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment
