Duties
5 q- Y4 c& u& R$ E* `& ?' U2 M' p" W$ m0 h# W
* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
. H5 a4 D7 Z- ], T * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
# q- N* I) E) I( v( S$ G+ Z( l * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance
: m8 X) ^- @1 ~. C * Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students
8 N7 a& h6 Y! a! y5 u * Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies

* Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment& h, j+ n- o9 c* X/ I, l

1 h2 U2 N: R" l * Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
3 E& R/ {2 S: ^1 g( d * Minimum of one year of related experience in some aspect of analytical mass spectrometry is required
