Duties

* Conducts isotopic analysis of geological samples using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry, including performing isotopic analysis of standard samples and control solutions to verify machine performance specifications
, t+ `5 q$ {, M$ K) A. n * Loads purified samples to filaments for analysis
9 F* I/ e' g- A2 n' N * Performs data entry and ensures quality control and quality assurance6 @' R& u+ B" U- F0 e6 [
* Coordinates instrument analysis schedules for Research Associates, Post Doctoral Fellows and Graduate Students & ]( M: i- h& r7 W3 |2 [* Q* g! H d
* Provides general technical support and routine husbandry for the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory, including preparing filaments (welding and out gassing) for analysis for use by self and others; cleaning instrument components and conducting minor repairs/replacement of components; checking glassware and pipettes; orders consumables and supplies2 r3 l; I9 c' N" O3 ~; y( o+ a
* Delivers completed data to users; maintains instrument and safety logs
' j9 |0 F" F/ c( d * Assists in the upkeep of safety procedures and information; completes routine checks on safety equipment2 u7 J6 V1 {! Z1 J3 L' C( `

* Technical Diploma required; a BSc is preferred
