FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

* t+ |) A) w& O9 {$ kFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# k9 x* G1 E7 q6 `' r: Fresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

  @! \$ S- Z( C! BJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
1 a& w( p2 `1 g3 B9 l1 y% aDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
- M1 z0 `' `; qassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

) b% j8 ^' N" r# y! }* xDuties:
3 A( x) Z; g: T( F+ z) \- Assist with research on acquisition grants
, f6 v4 O4 S# y- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
3 ?7 B; ~% p8 x( q% P, e- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
* T  J9 d5 H0 i; A9 \7 i( u7 B- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
