Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. , ^$ K2 A9 k/ `% V D: x

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Activity Planning and Daily Activity0 a" n6 j/ B& J( o
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.1 A4 r4 N' ~" j9 ?
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
6 f: A+ [& B' ^# n5 B• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 0 T1 K9 c5 K) z z. V+ M
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.' X+ y; e- H3 h' s2 k
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.+ {4 |8 _ n( Y. M, Y
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting

0 R1 U, P+ r$ H' i) ^• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
- Q9 ]0 F) C4 e8 `' u8 s• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.; h S3 I5 |, [, \# A* G
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.. v% t2 f5 N* B8 f, [3 F5 `9 U5 I. c
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources) @0 ]; ?) H9 t/ }) i7 ]
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check * ?3 P' U G4 F6 f8 m8 {: F# V
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check ! N, b$ n4 V$ u+ p3 F% J
