Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students - ]/ H5 ^. t- g; \8 p% a
(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)- z2 G* v* r; \$ B- w6 H

Key Responsibilities Include
8 g. `! @4 e) A$ S# B6 q6 E' xActivity Planning and Daily Activity9 h* i1 |1 C; U
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.. r6 t. ~4 c! D3 Y
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
, \ P& u5 |1 ]( o( \• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, % k0 m0 p2 m g8 p; H
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.4 |+ t- u2 R$ d
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
" q- w$ F, G) W& K0 Z9 E3 ]• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
6 A9 ]& p6 E: {4 a5 u6 j• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting. Q( g; v! z! _
• Experience with children) d1 A3 J5 |4 x( i2 N- I
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
7 |+ X1 d8 I; I• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
7 z3 h N6 a1 `0 ~• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.0 r0 b1 |6 s7 N2 o W! R" Z
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources. D4 E2 u, ~& m' s; ^, j* m/ o
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
! z; }! m( Z9 F; l7 i" i. m• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
